Match Thread Coventry City - Millwall FC Match Thread - Sunday 11th Feb

He was too busy celebrating in his head! He started to run off rather than putting it in the bloody net properly! Frustrating

Football set to introduce blue cards as major change to the game is signed off

I disagree, it's quite hard for momentum to swing on a dime in football. If it was near the end of a half maybe. But some teams struggle to just change like that. Plus imagine for somebody against a top team, might the difference between a point and none

Football set to introduce blue cards as major change to the game is signed off

Yeah cynical fouls included in this trial buts not officially announced yet so no details on that is!

Football set to introduce blue cards as major change to the game is signed off

Agreed I'm not sure why they added an extra card when all that needs to happen is what we do at lower levels. Yellow and point with both hands to the dugout. Simple! Not sure on sin bin for all yellows mind! (Be a nightmare at lower levels!)

Football set to introduce blue cards as major change to the game is signed off

Ah apologies. Definitely won't carry over. It will just be till the end of the match. Too many issues if you do that.

Dissent? Not in my experience that happens at any time.

Football set to introduce blue cards as major change to the game is signed off

A yellow card for dissent has proven it doesn't work. Players don't care, as it very very rarely leads to a red. We discussed the 7 man thing at a ref conference this week. Essentially the game would be abandoned if you dropped below 7. The directive this year for surrounding refs is that the...

Football set to introduce blue cards as major change to the game is signed off

This is already being used in Sunday league pretty much via sin bins, just without the blue card. It works far more effectively than a standard yellow ever did as a referee. I know top refs are supportive of the decision, depending on implementation and laws around it. I think having it for...

    Transfer Rumour Fadz to Blackburn

It's not just transfer fiasco. They are in deep financial shit. My Blackburn supporting mate says venkys have had assets frozen and there is only money until end of the season. Add on the transfer stuff as you say then I think he has every right to walk.

Current discussions are that it won't be used in this year's play offs...

    Allen injury

Speaking as a referee things like that never bother me it's to be expected as you say 😂 It's when the pundits like linekar contradict themselves by asking for law changes they change and then they say whoever made them got it wrong 😂

    Allen injury

Agreed, and I think most referees are happy with the fact that some decisions they make will be contentious. But I know from speaking to some of the top refs in England, they agree on VAR. They don't enjoy when they get appointed to VAR, and in general they want it to be for factual calls not...

    Allen injury

This is the reality of football and implementing rules of the games. Refereeing directives will attempt to adapt to the general feeling within football, but people never want what they say they want. Like you say games are meant to flow more now, but that will lead to a different tolerance...

    Allen injury

It needs to be looked at, but will have to hope there is footage capturing it. Not great if it means he's potentially out for the rest of the season. (I doubt it but that's what telegraph have reported it could be)

    Reading Protests

Had an event with the ref for this game today. Good bloke from Middlesbrough. Said the FA and club were aware the event was likely going to be abandoned on the day due to the protest but had to try. But was clear the second it started it wasn't going to get back on. Poor bloke now has to redo...

Match Thread Norwich City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 3rd Feb

It's easier to get back in a game with 11 men than it is to stay in a game with 10.

    Reflections on the January Window

Tbf he also clarified the comments of disappointment about wanting to move the club on as a fast as possible but that isn't possible. And he gets that. Also he's always always complained about quality in depth. Every year! I don't think that is every changing!

    Reflections on the January Window

But it's still not a reflection on the window is it... If Torp plays badly we are exactly same a pre window 😂 the comment makes no sense. If he was out for the season it might but he's literally going to be back in a few weeks most likely.
