    Are we going to blink?

Totally agree, fortunately we aren't a 1 man team, not sure if that was the case with Walsall, but yes, I think injuries are a major concern but it would take more than one to derail us. As said keeper and DM are the major worries re: injuries.

    Are we going to blink?

I didn't mean it's all over, I'm just pointing it out that it's so rare from this position to fail, that everyone remembers the odd time when it has happened. In this instance Newcastle from 30 odd years ago was mentioned, you pointed out another example, although I think Stoke recalling 15 goal...

    Are we going to blink?

And that's possibly the only example of a crash of that magnitude we can come up with in around 30 years.

    Intensity

Yes, I said similar in a recent post. Personally I'm not to worried about the goals we have recently conceded because I think it's part of how we play. Throw players forward and goals will come, but we will also be likely to concede, our game plan is to score more than the opposition, simple as...

Can we get to 50 points

Because a right sided winger/wing back will cross the ball with their right foot but a right sided corner is taken with the left foot if the taker is facing the other direction. I guess it's about preference by the taker

    Goals in quick succession

I think we have waves of intense attacks and overload their box. This is goal 3 against Boro, notice both central defenders are in the 6 yard box from open play, we definitely weren't playing for a draw. Goal 4, this is at 3-2 with 4 minutes to go plus added on time, notice we have 5 players...

    Championship thread 25/26!

A 6 point gap sounds about right for this time of the season. We are just over one third of the way through (37%) Last season Oxford finished 17th on 53 points, we were 5th on 69 points, a 16 point gap. (the gap to Sunderland in 4th was bigger at 23 points). I remember seasons in the past where...

    48 pts

Charlton was a good result for them but Charlton's form has fallen off a cliff it would seem, at least temporarily. Leicester also a good result for them but Leic have only won 2 of their last 6. Millwall, Bham, West Brom upcoming games will give us a better idea of whether Soton can maintain...

    Points needed

That's 1.75 ppg. Playoffs (using 72 points which has been enough in recent years) is relegation form1.1 ppg. Whereas Southampton need 67 points from 29 games to reach 91 - 2.3 ppg and Ipswich need 64 from 30 = 2.1 ppg I used those 2 as examples because many posters think they are the main threats.

Match Thread Middlesbrough - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 25th Nov

I think that to a certain extent teams have worked out how to play us, but it's not helping them at the moment. Opponents are hitting us with high energy and high press which makes it look like they are battering us at times in the game. But they can't keep it up for 90 minutes and once they...

Can we get to 50 points

I think we will get something out of at least one of the 3 games V Ipswich/Southampton

It must have been bad if the Ref was throwing bottles as well.

Match Thread Middlesbrough - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 25th Nov

The thing is though, teams have to score 3 to have any chance at the moment, the only team to beat us scored 3, and from memory, the only other team to do it was Derby who got soundly beaten.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Many players who are clearly above the level of the league they are playing in, can cover multiple positions adequately, so there is that to consider.

    For any remaining non-believers

In that game our xGot was something just under 4, which I think is a much better indicator. Interestingly a penalty has an xG of 0.7, but if the penalty taker scores he has already overperformed by 0.3, but you can't give a penalty an xG of 1 because they are sometimes missed. Here is a xG map...

    Suspensions looming?

Rudoni or Eccles can play in place of Torp if he gets suspended and Wolf for Kitching, Haji is injured anyway. I don't see those possible suspensions for 1 game impacting us much.

Wrexham only 2 points behind them if they can hold on today.... Dark horses?

    Championship thread 25/26!

I'm not the slightest bit worried about Leicester, even without any points deduction they are 13 points behind us if they win today, and if you look at the bigger picture their only win in the last 6 games was Norwich, and they had 3 defeats and 2 draws in that run.

    Simms and Assante

Simms has a great chance with Haji out injured. Based on today's performance he should be fine.
