    I voted Labour / Blair in 1997, so yes some charisma and a vision would have made a huge difference.

    It isn’t an election for England. Starmer has 33.8% of the UK vote on a 60% turnout. The support of just over 20% of the electorate is hardly a resounding endorsement.

    They will enjoy their moment of victory. The party analysts will be more concerned.

    If the Reform vote was largely a protest vote by usual Tory voters, Reform policies were probably of little interest this time and will be even less so next time. Those protest votes return to Tories and Labour are toast. The one caveat of course is giving the vote to children.

    Labour have hardly a greater share of the vote than last time - when they suffered a heavy defeat. Hardly a ringing endorsement of their policies, is it. They will have to play their cards very carefully despite having a huge majority, many of their gains would easily be reversed.

    its funny how dismissive you were about the “right” share of the vote in France. It looks like Labour will have a massive majority with only about the same percentage share. Labour clearly didn’t win the argument but have managed to win the election.

    Labour have a lot to thank Reform for. The people haven’t supported Labour but shown their anger at the Tories by splitting the right of centre vote between Cons and Reform.

    HS2 back on as their first action. Madness. They need to get a move on with the zero carbon electricity and reduced bills first, although giving children the vote will probably take priority.

    I hold my hands up to poor use of English. Thank you very much for the evidence that shows that the UN, at the time of publication, still sited refugees in Rwanda. Why is it safe for the UN to send refugees to Rwanda, but not for the UK to do so?
