If boat people are legal asylum seekers, perhaps they should come through the proper channels rather than over the English one. I suppose then they would then have to produce their “papers”, increasing the probability that their applications would be refused.

You have said it isn’t a figure in perpetuity, I have seen no action taken to reduce illegal immigration or repatriate illegal immigrants. TBH I think the point I am trying to make is that the shit show they are claiming is/ will be actually all about choices they have or could make.

Stop sending nearly £12 billion abroad to “fight global warming”, (as if it will get spent on that). That’s over half the “black hole” created by dropping the Ming vase. Stop the “chicken feed” £3billion illegal immigrant accommodation costs, that’s two thirds.

I can only imagine that peoples lived experiences would be worse with bad general economic indicators. We will shortly see whether that proves correct.

Of course it’s expectation management, as are the lies about the state of the economy, I expect the real surprises and shocks have been that the indicators published since the election and from the end of Tory government have been unexpectedly good. Makes it so much harder to blame the Tories...

You have hit the nail on the head with the latter option. Problem is that it will be difficult to ensure that the general economic indicators are better than inherited by the time of the next election.
