    Southport Stabbing

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp3wkzgpjxvo Does that set the tariff for the Labour councillor advocating throats to be cut?

Not as bad as being confronted by a bus, van or lorry on the same street. Having said that, when I had an X5 it was tricky parking it in a typical parking bay.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The comment was based on a post advocating strongarming people into doing something. As I have said before , EVs with decent range tend to be big and heavy. Shit roads is down to them not being maintained, nothing like the tax paid by road users is spent on roads. People with suvs get taxed on...

If they did similar to France, but using ANPR rather than toll booths, could start with motorways and major A roads. That would make finding the most scenic routes fun. Who knows how much, and it would be totally wrong to charge in addition to the level of existing taxes, including VED. They...

The two are not necessarily related and certainly not mutually exclusive.

The discussion seems to have been in relation to EVs. If it is extended to include ICE with existing tariffs maintained, that would be a time to protest.

Having lived in France, at least the roads there are in bloody good condition. I was impressed with the surface on a local dual carriageway when we first moved there - within 6 months it had been resurfaced. Plus fuel was much cheaper.

Tory bastards, good job working people don’t drive. In seriousness, I hadn’t realised just how much the last Labour government had increased tax on fuel.

    New cars

Providing you weren’t just putting your shopping in the boot, then yes. But then most car parks tend to have a disclaimer that parking is at the owner’s risk.

    New cars

Have you seen what is driving those registrations? It’s not sales to private buyers. There is a lot of pre-registration going on with cars being put on the second hand market at hugely reduced prices with next to no mileage 6months to 2 years after they have been registered. This is hammering...

    New cars

in relation to car parks and EVs, it’s the weight that worries me, just not sure how many early 60s multi-storey will remain standing when full of EVs. And, yes, they do come in various sizes but if you want a realistic range of more than 100 miles or so they are going to tend to be bigger. car...
