    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

As I mentioned to to Tony, I’d imagine they were talking about changing between coronavirus patients only and they’d be in separate units

I was just commenting on what was discussed yesterday at the briefing. If I’ve misunderstood about the guidelines and what was said then I’ll hold my hands up (I don’t think I misheard though)

Ive heard plenty of doctors and nurses saying they have got adequate PPE but as we know that doesn’t mean everyone across the 50k trusts, GP practices, care homes etc have

Just to be clear, I’m commenting on what was mentioned at the briefing not the science behind it (I’ve got no idea, like everyone else on here). Also I presume they are talking about changes between those patients already diagnosed with coronavirus. I’d imagine the whole units (docs, nurses etc)...

I can’t disagree with a lot of what you say mate and the way it’s been taken (even if not meant) reflects poorly on Hancock. The underlying message is still correct under the circumstances though

Yes (as long as it’s not run out obviously !!!) I think one of the points being made yesterday was that PPE was potentially being changed per patient. only picking up why was said, I don’t know the safety aspects (risks) etc

My point was is it’s in short supply (or could be) and something can help free up significant numbers then it’s worth considering Ps as I’m boring I’d actually noted the figure for gloves yesterday, I think it was 345m distributed since the start of the outbreak. As I say that wasn’t so much...

Right, I’m going to put this out there as an alternative view, awaiting to be abused but here it goes and please hear me out..... Firstly, do I think Hancock is out of his depth, yes, most probably (for all his historical issues with the NHS Hunt would’ve no doubt been far better in these...

Haha, to be fair it’s a non political book (I don’t think there’s any angles to it...or I’ve missed them !!!!)

I had only looked him up after reading the article and drafting the message. I’m not sure if the crux of the article was a piss take (or maybe I’m just lacking a sense of humour on the subject). His comments ‘Because we’re set to sail past Spain and Italy’s figures, and current predictions...

Spot on. I think it’s not just the UK but a lot of the western world, in particular trust/acceptance of others views and opinions. Read a book recently (rare for me - poor attention span !) called Rebel Ideas by Matthew Syed. There’s a chapter about echo chambers (and information bubbles) which...

To be fair the way he wrote the article I knew without even looking him up that he was likely to have a slant to his views (I’d never heard of him before) The best writers/presenters are usually the ones where you’re not quite sure what their personal beliefs are (very difficult i appreciate)

It was a unbalanced lazy rant of an article. People knocked Dom for lack of critical thinking, people should ask journalists/those in the media (left and right wing) to show the same. Of course the government (and their medical advisors/PHE) should be held to account but do it in a...

Another piece of good news (hopefully) Health Secretary launches biggest diagnostic lab network in British history to test for coronavirus From what I’ve read the focus on (and delay to) the opening of the hubs has been one of the reasons why initial testing numbers have been so poor - I’m not...

I know, my point was that Dom wasn’t the only one, a lot of people (in particular the media) have been following those numbers alone, even though it’s been stated previously that they aren’t just deaths that occurred that day (the medical officers have obviously got to the point where they...

You’re not the only one ! What they are saying (and to be fair I’ve heard the medical officers saying it previously) is that the daily death numbers aren’t just the deaths that have occurred on that given day ps as far as I’m aware the confirmed cases are more accurate assessment of the numbers...
