Surely a disastrous situation for disaster capitalists wouldnt have been such a disaster 😊

On a trade basis that’s what pretty much everyone wanted though Dave ie trade continues as was (albeit there will be more paperwork !) Depends what you voted for though I guess. I drafted a long (and dull) post a couple of weeks back but didn’t bother posting as it’s just ploughing over old...

There is no way May would’ve tried to get this deal (rightly or wrongly) so she wouldn’t have got it. She wanted far closer alignment with the EU so would’ve agreed to a load of the stuff we have been pissing about with arguing for months. It’s some the nuances/small stuff that’s important ie...

100% One bit of slightly more positive news. A mate was saying a vaccination site in the NW was slick/impressive. Need the AZ/Oxford vaccine to be approved, ideally asap (I know I keep banging on about it but assuming it works on all the new variants it’s main hope for a quick return to...

I think Fernandos explanation is more accurate. My understanding is that they aren’t there to care for those severely ill but can act as an overflow for patients....rather than having situations like abroad early in the pandemic when there were patients in corridors etc. Or I presume to also...

Depends on your viewpoint I guess Clint. ERG would probably prefer a no deal, cut all ties etc etc and find our own way in the world totally free of everything EU related ! I think most sane people will probably be happy with a free trade deal that gives us an element of freedom and hopefully...

If the strain is that contagious (and more transmissible in school aged kids than original) they’ve got at least consider moving schools in T4 (and probably T3) to online learning for January surely

Its far better than the alternative though Pete whichever side of the argument you’re on, so hope it’s the news is correct We’ve been out of the EU since the start of 2020 anyway.....it’s gone rather well dont you think 😳 (gallows humour, probably not appropriate so apologies, these are truly...

On a miserable day that analogy did at least make me smile. I can’t argue with the scepticism Wingy (even with the scientists data - the 4K deaths per day on one of the second lockdown slides still pisses me off) but for some the government are damned if they do, damned if they don’t. This...

Yeah, macrons dropped a bollock. If they didn’t have it, they are far more likely to have it now. Yet they’ll have a dodgy operation moonshoot test and either to get it back to the continent (possibly with Covid contracted from waiting around) or now be stuck here for a couple of weeks ...

The three months was based on retrospective analysis though wingy. I’m pretty confident that the comparable timelines and actions (in relation to discovery of virus/strain) will reflect far better on us than China, but who knows for sure and kind of irrelevant now anyway. We’re all in the shit !

Sounds like literally all bets are off in terms of previous restrictions/tier plans. Even talk of schools being closed for January as they think it ‘might’ transmit more easily between kids compared to previous strains/variants. Guess they’ll know more following further research now they know...

Yeah, I should’ve clarified, all the scientists I’ve heard talking about it are concerned about transmissibility, and that leading to more cases and inturn strain on nhs etc (rather than it being more dangerous) In my optimistic world I’m hoping if it’s more contagious they ultimately find its...

Haha, I’m only relaying what I’d read (could be wrong !!!) If the whole household had been in contact with the Covid person and they each had their details provided to track and trace (or I’m guessing all of their details were individually picked up by the app), it sounds like track and trace...

All the science boffins appear genuinely concerned about the spread of new strain but agree, the media, like throughout the pandemic, love to whip up further panic ! Like they have done with the French port border issue - whilst we might run out of certain items of fruit/veg for a short period...

Sounds like the EC is having to get involved in both the fisheries (from what I’ve read Barnier and CVD apparently want to accept UKs latest proposal, France and possibly Denmark don’t) and the travel disruption by calling on countries (ie France) not to disrupt the supply chain. It’s not just...

Im not sure about schools Tony. My understanding is that the change in counting method was more about say a household (mum, dad, three kids) had been in contact with someone with Covid, it appears that track and trace would previously try and call/contact all five of them separately, now it...
