Keep tight to their wingers, ensure someone is marking Wilson at all times and close him down as soon as possible whenever he's on the ball, try and freeze Moore out of the game by limiting the number of balls into the box, don't give away any needless free kicks or corners. Do all that and...

Fans back in stadia by Xmas?

As I said yesterday, this has been carelessly thought out on a number of fronts, including the fact that fans back in stadiums doesn't necessarily equate to money in the coffers. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/nov/24/fans-return-will-not-be-cash-bonanza-many-efl-clubs-are-hoping-for

I don't think you can really put Dabo into the same bracket. I think if I have my timeline correct Viveash would have coached him for years - from the U18s through to what was their U21's at the time - and therefore would have had a far more fuller picture of both the player's...

Fans back in stadia by Xmas?

I've been saying this for months. Getting fans back into stadiums in a reduced capacity isn't necessarily a miracle cure for clubs from a financial point of view. As if you weigh up the match-day operating costs against revenue from footfall, clubs either aren't left with a great deal, or as...

Fans back in stadia by Xmas?

I think it's fairly obvious the government have done this as a compromise in order to mitigate the PR fallout from their refusal to bail out the EFL, despite offering financial aid to other sports. I have to say though as Chief Dave as well as others have pointed out, whilst it's a compromise...

I've also heard that whilst he tries, Bakayoko isn't particular the best listener. Not from Robins to be fair but from a few within the club. But having spoken to Robins previously about what he looks for in players, he favours those who can do exactly what he tells them to without having to...

At a guess, loss of patience. I think after nearly two and a half years of Robins trying to mould him into the player he wants him to be, and telling him to use his attributes more etc, he's just given up. He hasn't really developed his game during his time with us so it had to come at some point.

I don't think he's particularly bothered about keeping Baka fit to be honest.

Don't get me wrong Birmingham were bad, but despite their performance their squad on paper is still filled with experience and they're hardly the worst team in the league either. So, I just don't know how we can honestly state that any game this season is 'very winnable' when every team probably...

I'm curious why you amongst others believe it was a 'very winnable game' when if you compare the two squads like for like, Birmingham are actually better than us in almost every position.

Taking Rose out of the team was a must. I don't like to use this term often with our players but he's been terrible all season and has cost us goals. Whether thats down to fatigue after his lengthy lay-off, or the Championship being too much too soon, I'm not too sure. But, I don't consider it a...

    Match Thread Birmingham City

It took two goals for us to lose. The first goal, whilst I thought looked offside, was down to terrible defending yet again. Really? I thought Dabo's defending came on leaps and bounds last season so I have to say I strongly disagree on that. What was the right thing to work on though in...

I'd suggest you re-watch the highlights if you genuinely believe Sheaf is at sole fault for their first goal. Sheaf gave the ball away, yes. But the defending, in particular by Rose, was lazy and poor.

    Match Thread Birmingham City

Why would it? We've played and lost against teams who use a lone striker or a variation of such. Blackburn, Forest and Brentford. Jutkiewicz is difficult to play against for even the most experienced Championship defender and one of the best at what he does in the division. So, throwing as many...

Both goals were conceded in part because Rose was ball watching and didn't close down quick enough. In particular the first goal.

    Match Thread Birmingham City

Regardless of what formation we would've played it was an inevitability that they would have attempted to get balls into the box and as a consequence conceded headed chances - it's pretty much their only go-to tactic. We lost the ariel battle because Jutkiewicz is probably the best in the league...

    Match Thread Birmingham City

Your logic is based on the fact we automatically would've won if we used the 3-5-2/ 3-5-1-1. I personally don't think we would've benefitted by utilising our usual set-up because of how Birmingham like to play - capitalising on gaps down the flanks by getting the ball to their wingers...
