Whether it's true or untrue the notion that we'd actually wait until the final month of his contract to make contact and propose an informal offer is a bit naive.

The issue is LD is going to be his wages. Obviously he's going to have to take a reduction if he wants to play regular football but I don't think it's going to be as simple as you're making out given he's one of our highest earners... Hopefully we don't have to pay compensation for him to leave...

If he was 18/19 I'd probably be inclined to agree with you but I personally don't think there's anything overly special about a ST of Tavares' age netting regularly in the U23s as he's playing at an advantage. He's far more experienced than many of his opponents (many of which who will either...

I don't think there's really evidence to suggest otherwise. Perhaps if he'd replicated form shown at Lincoln then he would've stood half a chance but based on his recent performances I think it's safe to say the ship has most definitely sailed for him. Far too costly to act as a fourth option...

It's frustrating as if he had hit the ground running, we would've likely been able to recoup a decent proportion of the fee that we initially paid. However, at this rate mutual termination beckons in the summer unless a L1 club is willing to pay a menial fee for him.

I think those examples are exceptions rather than the rule really. It's clear Tavares has raw ability but to say he has 'fantastic' potential when he's 21 and has only featured twice for us is very OTT. Equally, arguing against that on the basis that he might become another Ian Wright is a bit...

All credit to Tavares for his goal but does he really have 'fantastic' potential? He's 21 and still predominantly plays in the U23s.

Coventry City publish Accounts for Year Ended 31st May 2021

No but i'd put a decent amount of money on the fact that they'd contribute a sizeable amount to one. It'd be as beneficial to them as it would be to us.

I wouldn't go as far as to say they had delusions of grandeur as there was plenty of merit to their hatred. Twice relegated under his stewardship, 8 year contract given to Pardew, refusing to sell when it was probably the right time to go, renaming of St James' park upon the promise of increased...

I believe they're relying on loans from MSD Holdings to keep them afloat. They only have a few weeks of money left though so unsure what the plan is after that. More loans? If they're struggling to attract a buyer that's only going to put them off even further if there's high interest attached...

Coventry City publish Accounts for Year Ended 31st May 2021

Looking at the accounts of other clubs will be useless and tell us nothing that we don't already know. The majority of other Championship club owners don't charge interest rates on loans and if they do it's minimal.

You can't blame Robins on poor recruitment. Undoubtedly the buck stops with him due to his role but he doesn't even head up the recruitment. It's still an error in judgement by all involved of course. At least we can be thankful we didn't hand him a 3 year contact.

He doesn't have the luxury of doing otherwise I'm afraid.

Fair enough CD you're probably right. Perhaps upon first reading it triggered me slightly and I jumped the gun too soon. I still find it a bit odd but that's probably just me.

Supporters forum - Thursday 3rd March

Would be good to find out what the events strategy is for next season. E.g. The Race Day, 'An Evening With'. One of the things DB brought in during the L2 season and continued up until the pandemic which I thought was a breath of fresh air. They seemed quite popular pre-Covid so it would be...

I'm well aware of the process CD. However, I just find the wording very strange. Obviously less overall money means less money available for MR. But why push it out to the press? It just sounds desperate. Even if that's the reality of the situation I don't understand why they've vocalised it...

I think this is a bit of a strange article and as a Championship club I find it quite embarrassing. Firstly why's pitch maintenance coming out of the playing budget? And equally even if that's the case why are the club pushing that out to the press and making it public knowledge knowing full...

    Next lot

Not really as it's a much harder set of fixtures than people think. I'd suggest two wins and a draw is probably about right. Form over the past 10 games: Bristol sit third in home form, Sheffield United are top in overall form, Luton are 5th in overall form. Over the past 6 matches: Preston...

    Free agents in the summer

I'd wager it's more likely that our strategy will be looking at PL U23 players who are surplus to requirements at their clubs. E.g. Those in the mould of Sheaf and Gyokeres. The L1/L2 (personally wouldn't touch NL unless it's to supplement our development squad) markets are ones that we should...

O'Hare is a Burden on the Team

You're correct in the heading the ball down part but in the position he was in he should've headed it across the goalkeeper.
