Ah, that might explain why the word from the camp was that he showed great promise but lacked pace.

Hang on, am I to deduce from stokesy1991 that Chris Stokes is 25 and that from RyanHaynes1995 that Haynes is 21 and therefore Ivor Lawton is 11?

    Phillips: new contract or not?

But isn't that like saying I'd rather have Professor Stephen Hawking at right back? Rather having Phillips than Ricketts is no recommendation at all unfortunately.

A win for us on Saturday will all but relegate Doncaster on Saturday, even if other results go their way. They are 5 points away from safety. We beat them and even with others results in their favour they would then have to win their last 2 games to have any chance whatsoever of survival...

I was wondering about Stokes too. Wasn't he supposed to be back about now?

Well that's the ideal scenario. Sheff Utd beat Barnsley, we beat Doncaster and then we beat Sheff Utd.

Improbable because Barnsley have been on an excellent run and even though they have had a bit of a wobble after something like 1 defeat in 14 games, their last 10 games have resulted in 6 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats It is improbable because you would fully expect them to get 4 points from 3...

I've tried and I've tried, Torch. I know there is a way, but I just can't find it. Couldn't sleep last night trying to figure out the conundrum. Sorry to disappoint you.

Don't forget looking back, the Sheff Utd. match. Still scratching my head as to how we didn't come away from that with at least a point.

IF Sheff Utd beat Barnsley on Saturday and Gillingham fail to beat Shrewsbury and Port Vale get something against Rochdale and Peterborough get something against Scunthorpe and we beat Doncaster, then we have an excellent chance.

Too many results need to go our way and too many clubs need to stumble. As well as Rochdale and Scunthorpe not picking up enough points, we need Sheff Utd ideally to beat Barnsley on Saturday, followed then by us beating Sheff Utd. next week. Gillingham have to pick up less than 4 points from...

    If true, this is brilliant!

Alas, not to be I don't think. Think the SSN reporter was a bit over exuberant in his deliberations and observation. Shame, cos that would have been so funny.

    Phillips: new contract or not?

I tend to agree. He is good on the ball, pretty quick and can support the attack, but defending isn't his strongest point. Also really needs to cut out the rash challenges and silly mistakes. Not 100% sure, but with how things stand it may well be worth offering him a new contract as a squad...
