Same team, attacking performance, 2-0 City, Hiwula and Thomas. Or, Addai and Thompson start out of nowhere due to Willis, Burge and Davies having medicals at Bristol, Bolton and Burton.

Lighten up it was tongue in cheek. Although saying that, how can you be so sure?

    Chaplin Move Completed

Chaplin has been disappointing this season, but as has been said numerous times on this forum, I believe it’s due to his positioning. The key question is whether that’s under instruction or his lack of positional awareness. Biamou jokes aside, the strike partner is also key. Playing with JCH is...

    Chaplin Move Completed

Can’t wait to see your reaction when we start next season with Biamou and Chaplin up front.
  5. Great_Expectations

    Burge, Willis and Davies

Surprised at all three in a way, but especially Burge. He’s been supported by the club for a good few years and he is finally repaying that. I wonder if him not starting the season in goal has anything to do with that (I’m not starting a conspiracy theory I genuinely can’t remember)? I think...

For all his faults, JCH is having that one in five game where he looks interested and is a nuisance. Saying that, the balls coming back way too much. Time to take Chaplin off and put Hiwula back up front.

Probably your best post yet AND you didn’t mention Chaplin. Everything ok?

Absolute waste putting our best striker on the wing.

Yes, I haven’t disagreed he’s been disappointing, but you’re obsessed. No worries though, your saviour JCH has just come on.

Play Hiwula as a striker to use his movement + play football on the floor = goal.

You’re obession with Chaplin is nearly as bizarre as with Biamou. I absolutely agree hes been a disappointment, but I also recognise as poor as he’s been, we are a) not playing well as a team and b) to his strengths.

I think Hiwula has worked pretty hard; he’s won a few headers and tried to link play. Especially considering he’s almosr playing as a quasi target man, which isn’t his game. He definitely has technical ability, but (similar to Chaplin) we aren’t playing to those strengths.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Southend United Match Thread - Saturday 29th Dec

Lack of wingers in the overall squad, never mind the match day squad, really restricts our options. Westbrooke is clearly not a winger and is an absolute passenger. I’m sure it’s not helping his confidence. As we know Shipley is not a winger, so regardless of how well (or not) he is playing...

Westbrooke is not a winger. Kelly has taken on the Doyle role of playing left back, and we have a lack of passing options across the midfield. Too many passengers.

We’re letting an average team dictate tempo. We need more movement when we attack. Awful awful miss from Chaplin.

The pace comment has nothing to do with my point around positioning. But I agree he lacks it. Every time we defend he drops into the 10 position. Regardless he adds little.

That’s one throw. Watch where he is when we don’t have the ball or the defenders do. He’s literally on the edge of our box as I type. I agree though, he’s poor based on what we’ve seen so far.

He’s dropping way too deep again. Considering he’s supposed to be a poacher, you have to assume it’s instruction. Probably why he’s been so anti climatic since he signed.

No pattern to the play, we’re going long too much and too slowly for through balls. We need more options in midfield, Westbrooke and Shipley are anonymous, Bayliss isn’t quite at the races yet with his final ball. Not looking troubled though and we have more on the tank ability wise.

Think they are supposed to be over the top for Hiwula, but we’re too slow moving it so they end up being in the air for headers we’ll never win. Simon Cox (their 10) needs taking out.
