    Robins on Gyokeres

On Saturday I thought they combined well. Gyokeres picked Waghorn out a few times with leading to half chances / attacking moves; and Waghorn was getting into good positions. I think a fit Godden alongside Gyokeres may be the best partnership but Waghorn isn't a bad option going by the last match.

You have to question whether a tiring Gyokeres and Waghorn will have less energy / sharpness than two strikers lacking game time. Totally understand if done so in the last 10 or 15 like Godden's cameo last week but not after 60 minutes. I could understand more so if we had a midweek match but...

Disappointing that Bapaga didn't get on for Grimsby today.

First half I thought everyone played well. Gyokeres was a real handful and Waghorn looked on his game. I thought taking them both off was bizarre and a gamble that didn't pay off. Towards the end the team looked disjointed and mistakes were all over the place. I'd probably say Moore, Dabo and...

It would make sense from a fitness point of view but I don't think they will learn anything from playing him given that he is available to find another club.

    Liam Kelly

I agree they haven't had many shots at goal but we have been caught out on the break and a poor final pass or a last ditch interception has prevented a clear opportunity.

    Liam Kelly

Kelly's main strengths imo are his organisation and positioning sense. Although we have been playing great attacking football we have almost been caught out on several occasions defensively. Against better teams we possibly would have been. This is why Kelly is key - he reduced the chances...

Blaine Rowe was on the edge of the first team at the start of last season and looked good in that pre-season. Does he look like he could step up within the next season or two?

4 forwards and a keeper on the bench highlights our lack of depth defensively.

    The little things

I have just watched the Reading game again on iPlayer. Simon Moore thinks Cov have a goal kick after 5 minutes or so of injury time. Most teams at that stage would probably settle on defending the corner to take a point. However Maatsen quickly kicks the ball to the player at the corner flag...

    Squad Depth

Hasn't Maatsen and O'Hare amassed 3 yellows already? Suspensions are going to hit. Shame Burroughs is on a season loan because although maybe not ready for a regular berth, he can play multiple positions so would be useful on the bench, especially with Eccles recovering from injury.

Sorry if I have missed this, but does anyone know why Rose and Clarke-Salter were missing? Thought Sheaf gives us an extra option now. Hopefully Dabo will no longer need to cover the RCB role again. Such a better team when he is playing wingback.

Pretty much agree. Sheaf was excellent bringing the ball out of defence when he dropped deeper. I would give a higher score to Hamer and Allen. Hamer gave a poor pass which lead to their penalty but some of his passing was sublime. Allen was electric. Pretty much his first two touches was...
