I think you inadvertently exemplified my point. A woman's affairs would reflect badly on her not her partners. Johnson is seen as "a bit of a lad." A woman leader would be seen as a "slut" or an "old bag" or, at best, a "cougar".

I go to sleep around 1am and can't recall any news story that happened overnight barring election nights...

If that's accurate it's interesting that more people watch morning news than evening news. What exactly do they imagine has happened during the night?
