    Westbrooke

He doesn’t look dynamic like O’Hare or Walsh, but he helps us to retain possession, which we didn’t do today. As you say though, fans views are often different.

    Westbrooke

I actually think he should be starting, not going out on loan or on the bench. He is out most composed midfielder, rarely gives the ball away, and we therefore retain possession more effectively. He should start, particularly when we’re playing a strong team, like today.

    Westbrooke will be class.....

Westbrooke ensures that we retain possession, and was really important to the way in which we dominated Blackpool in the second half, doesn’t give the ball away. I think I would start him, particularly against good teams where possession is particularly important.

We didn't play Saturday - but what a day!

Agree with you, although I know we have to move back to Coventry as soon as possible, I don’t want to go cap in hand to Wasps. In the meantime, I’m thoroughly enjoying the St Andrews experience and supporting the team, and I don’t think I’m in the minority.

Just out of interest, you’re obviously a big fan, is it just circumstance that stops you from going to St Andrews?

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Tuesday 17th Sep

Just out of interest, I thought we missed Westbrooke’s calm, controlled play last night. I know he’s not direct like O’Hare and Walsh, but I felt we were a bit frenetic last night, whereas against Blackpool we had total control of the midfield, and our passing accuracy was better. There is an...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Tuesday 17th Sep

You’re right, I thought that in the Blackpool game, it wasn’t happening for him in the first half, his passing was off, but he never stopped looking for the ball and getting involved in the play. He came good in the second half against Blackpool.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Tuesday 17th Sep

Thought we were poor tonight, misplaced passes, and misunderstandings all over the pitch. A number of posts after the Blackpool game commented on how well we had played out from the back, which is the way we want to play, even though we would occasionally get caught out. Well it happened...

    A Different Coventry

Yes, but is he a good captain? England don’t seem to have any natural leaders (Henderson?) and to me, Kane is captain by default.

    Would JCH have fitted in

JCH didn’t really do it for us, and in addition, I think he’s well capable of being disruptive. MR seems to be building a good team with a strong team ethic, and although he may become a good player, even in the Championship, I think we’re better off without.

    Atmosphere at St Andrews

I have to say that I enjoyed the St Andrews experience yesterday, and a much better pitch which helps our football. But we do have to return to Coventry, I just wish it could be to our own ground, and not as the tenants of a London rugby club.

Congratulations ISB! I retired a while ago, and can thoroughly recommend it! Have always enjoyed reading your reasoned posts, you’ll have time to do more now!

    Sad bastards

Yeh, to be fair, although I haven’t read all of their posts, a good number are much more reasonable, and even complimentary. I guess we just shouldn’t bite on the few idiot posters (like we have with the idiot from Blackpool who’s been posting this evening!)

    Transfer Rumour Player ratings

I liked Walsh, in the first half he made some poor passes, but he never stopped wanting the ball, really good give and get back. The way Marosi plays out seems integral to the way we play. Great to watch, very clever. I think Westbrooke is a clever footballer, and helped us to control the...

    Trouble afterwards v Blackpool.

Must admit I was right at the far end away from the away ‘fans’, so perhaps didn’t hear that well

    Marosi

I agree, we’ll get caught out I’m sure, and it might cost us points, but what a pleasure to see how we played it out from the back. And the fact that they had used their 3 subs and went down to 10 men was perhaps evidence of their fatigue after chasing shadows throughout the second half. We need...

    Trouble afterwards v Blackpool.

I would like this reply, but I do find the descriptions of the two young ladies from our host City, to be rather unfair.

    Trouble afterwards v Blackpool.

Yes, I can remember Cov fans singing ‘we want Oystons out’ at their ground a few years ago. Shame they didn’t have some empathy, but it was probably a minority.

Yes, a bit of fun, but all the very best, Joe. Grab the chance with both hands (or feet!)
