    Allen injury

Jesus Christ. That’s absolutely disgraceful. Bernard deserves a lengthy ban. Even worse when you consider the context of the game already being over, it hadn’t been particularly fiery and it’s Jamie bloody Allen - he’s not exactly known for winding up opposing players. Just no need at all.

Wright having a frustrating game. His movement hasn’t been the best overall, and on the occasions he’s positioned himself well he’s taken a poor touch/wrong decision etc. I think Sakamoto looks tired.

Massive police presence compared to usual. Queues are absolutely shit again.

    Insomnia

100%. Even regardless of the no nappy at night stage (which is only the eldest anyway) they wake for a variety of reasons. Every night, at least once. So I go to bed every night knowing I’m going to get broken sleep. Hard when I have stuff on my mind too, as even if I’m only in their room for a...

    Insomnia

Thankfully I don’t suffer from insomnia but I haven’t slept properly for 4 years i.e. when my first child was born. I do the night shifts, which could be once in the night for a few minutes, or multiple times and all for a long period. For example a few nights ago both kids woke up twice each...

Land in Birmingham at 6, pick the kids up from the grandparents en route home, get them all in the house then shoot straight off to the game. Should make it for WLADITT, and if I’m lucky I might even have time for a quick pint to finish my few days off work in style. Think he’ll go fairly...

    Ben Sheaf

Torp next to Eccles or Kelly will see us through. Torp has shown he has a creative and forward thinking skill set, so him next to a steady partner who will sit and do the other stuff will work. We need to avoid two purely defensive minded players in there as it’ll stifle us.

Siem Reap is great. I’ve still got (and wear!) a top from ‘Angkor What?’ Bar. Can’t remember the bar but it’s a cool top! We hired bikes while we were there and discovered a crocodile farm. I won’t expand but it’s definitely an experience. Prior to Siem Reap we had taken a coach to...

Don’t get the Simms/Palmer comparisons, they’re different players in different positions with different skill sets. People need to get on board with Simms. Criticism is based on unrealistic expectations or pure bias.

Consecutive games where we’ve not looked quite on it. But even saying that it’s poor individual decision which has had a significant impact on the result. I’m as pissed off as others, but let’s not lose the plot. Play offs are very much still on.

Sakamoto fouled THREE times in the same dribble - advantages played but no bookings!

None of our attackers have tbf, we’re bypassing midfield as their press is panicking us. Most vulnerable I’ve seen Kitching look too - not even about their striker per say, he just looks a bit off it.

Frantic pace so far and we’re mostly on the back foot with some decent, but wasted, counters.

Also get the feeling it’s one of those games where Allen comes in from nowhere and has a stormer.

Excited for that team. Interesting to see how it’ll play out without a naturally defensive player outside the four 5 (and even MVE is questionable!). Looking forward to it.

Appreciate all Godden has done, great servant and an incredible goal scoring record etc etc etc. But, and even regardless of recent anonymity, this isn’t a game for him. We’re going to need to occupy their defenders, hold up the ball and counter fast - none of those tactics scream Godden.

    Transfer targets

I get the risk with free agents but there’s a few decent players who are worth a short term contract to have around the squad for depth. While not match fit, if they’re professionals they should have a good level of fitness so shouldn’t be months to get up to speed. You’d think it’s a low cost...

    The holiday 2023 thread

I know this is the holiday 2023 thread but I suggest it’s best we carry this one on (and maybe amend the title) rather than start a new one, so useful advice, tips and recommendations aren’t lost. We had a week’s holiday at the start of the year with the kids which was great, but tiring! So...
