    Edmonton police station

Some people on social media claiming terrorism and bombs and all sorts. Just need to slow the fuck down and wait for some actual facts to emerge.

    Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

A question for the science bods - would this be classed as a ‘live’ vaccine? The reason I ask is that I might have mentioned my daughter is on immuno-suppressants and when we enquired about a flu vaccination for this winter, we were told she couldn’t have the ‘live’ version of it (the nasal...

    Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

What baffles me the most is that some of the most vociferous anti-vaxxers on Facebook have no hesitation in hoovering up 5 grams of cocaine from Big Dave up the road (that may or may not contain rat poison, chalk, baking powder and goodness knows what else) but they are up in arms about having a...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

You only have to look at some of the bizarre decisions made about students on an individual level in an effort to ‘meet the criteria’ required for government measures. Just one example that I find really detrimental for some students is when we put students that have low literacy levels (due to...

Smaller, focused assessments would make it easier for a subject like Maths where you could have an area focus (Number, Algebra or Geometry for example) rather than the 3 paper absolute lottery you get right now. To be honest - until there is definitive detail we are pissing in the wind and...

Yes - and this is why HMI/OFSTED have to be front and centre of the scrutiny process.

I have heard a rumour that these ‘assessments’ will be put together by the exam boards themselves and that the ones in England are doing the same behind closed doors.

They haven’t released the details but I am hoping these will be graduated assessments of some sorts covering specific aspects so they will account for loss of learning over the last 10 months.

Glad to see there is some sense left somewhere. Only a matter of time until England follows suit IMO.

Sensationalist bullshit like this that is so lacking in any awareness it’s frightening.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

No I claimed Starmer wasn’t doing anything - and I still think that’s the case. Cov-ID has taken centre stage and the government’s disastrous handling has pushed people back to Labour. And while you may have a point about Labour’s reputation being trashed, Starmer was front and centre in...

I see the PM has backtracked on the free school meals policy over the holidays, and picked a good time to tell everyone. The cynic in me also thinks it’s because schools won’t make it to the end of term.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It is a small sample, but it may well play out exactly as above in the end. It was assumption that allowed Labour to ignore the possibility of losing these seats in the first place, and it is equally foolish that they will just return post-Brexit. It requires more than a ‘under new management’...

You could argue that the hospital infrastructure in somewhere like Cornwall is insufficient to cope with even the smallest surge.

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

I’m not saying it’s Jedi mind tricks, just simple sabotage. On any ‘side’ there will always be a range of candidates that take a certain portion. The other candidates that occupy similar political space as Biden were pulled quickly and decisively to shore up Biden. Warren who would occupy the...

Yes they are the facts at the end of day, but the gerrymandering was so fucking obvious. Bernie stormed ahead, they pull out 2 candidates to boost Biden and then leave Warren in just long enough to split the progressive vote so much that it delivers the fatal blow to Bernie.

I genuinely can’t see what the attraction to D Milliband is. He’s a glorified consultant, and being honest I see more in Stewart.
