Are you starting to really believe?

We had about 20 years worth of good luck in the year we went up. For years every fine margin seemed to go against us and then for about 18 months we were on the right side of just about every marginal one. A good example is injuries. George Hirst (he’s gone backwards , was better two seasons...

There’s nothing to fear in this league. IF we click we could go on a long unbeaten run and eat into your lead but you’ve got a big cushion and don’t see many teams that are going to put a string of say 6-7 wins together and then maintain promotion form. Christmas will be decisive, it always is...

Are you starting to really believe?

Best way to look at it. When we went up part of the fun was that right up until we got a late winner at yours in the penultimate game most of us thought we’d fall just short. The sense of entitlement from some of our fans this year is pathetic.

Are you starting to really believe?

If you’ve got half a team who individually are as good as anyone in the league and the momentum, unity and cohesion that we all can see then that’s my answer. Our promotion team didn’t have one player who’d definitely go into the Leeds, Leicester or Southampton teams of that season but that...

Are you starting to really believe?

Hi, Ipswich fan here. Believe it or not I don’t usually post on the sites of other teams, rarely post on our own one (TWTD) but I registered a couple of years ago to commiserate on your FA cup semi final defeat and have been back a few times since as you seem such a decent bunch - proper fans...

    Look after Woolfy

I’ve just checked and yes he played that day. All I remember from the game is the Burns goal, probably my favourite ever goal at Portman Road in the near-50 years I’ve been a supporter (sorry!)

He’s not lightning quick but he isn’t slow and reads the game well so is rarely caught out for pace. To say he’s league one standard is laughable. He was pretty much an ever present in the team that went up in 23/24. I don’t know any Ipswich fans who want him to leave.

Fair point. It’s a crap way of putting it. What I meant is he’s a local lad and other than time on loan has always been a Town player. I’m guessing it might take him a while to adjust so be patient if he needs it, support him and I’m sure he’ll become a favourite just as he is at Ipswich. Too...

He’s potentially a very good signing. The fact he’s joined from them definitely added something but in a positive way. Fans aren’t daft, he’s a Chilean over here to make his money. He’s come to us because we’re paying him more and he’s got a better chance of getting to the Premier League with us...

It’s being widely reported in Ipswich that he’s at Cov for a medical and it’s open knowledge that he’s leaving today. Have a look on TWTD, it’s on there.

Not quite but honestly for £4m (only just read what the fee is) you’ve got one of the signings of the season. I know it’s a lot of money but based on the huge amounts of money we’ve spent/wasted in the past year or so, double that would have been a fairer price.

I don’t know enough about what you have to assess that but I rate him very highly. Harshly treated by the club in my view, a first team regular during our back to back promotions and then given very few opportunities last season. I wouldn’t have swapped him for any centre back in the league when...

    Look after Woolfy

We’ve seen our back to back promotions team dismantled over the summer. Morsy leaving was tough to take but realistically it was the right time for him and Ipswich. The news that Luke Woolfenden is going though is the toughest to take of them all. I rate him as highly as either of the current...

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

The biggest and best change since McKenna took over and new owners came in has been the improved crowds (sell out every week, been the same for 2 and a half years and will be next season) and the massive improvement in the atmosphere. The club had been in decline for 20 years, we’d lost a...

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

Definitely. To do that though you need a promoted team to scrape staying up the year before (not sure if this makes sense!). The teams immediately above is are Man U, Spurs and West Ham. That shows the level. First half of the season Wolves looked vulnerable but their quality (relative to the...

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

Thanks. If it’s made one of you feel better then it was worth posting. What I have missed most this season is going to games, expecting them to be exciting and knowing that we’re in with a decent chance of a result. You can kid yourself and we’ve had a few great, surprising results (beating...

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

It should be but there is a risk that the restrictions they’ve put on spending are going to reduce the competitiveness. It suits us next season but it will damage the EFL if the clubs with the parachute payments have so much more clout than the rest. We’re edging towards a situation where...
