Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Everything is a fudge regardless, arbitrary ages for all sorts of things with no consistency whatsoever. I’d be very interested to see the numbers of 16/17 year olds that exercise their right to vote where they’ve been allowed to, before judging on its suitability.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I disagree - if 16 year olds can be expected to make decisions that influence their future directions in terms of school, college or apprenticeships, they deserve the right to have a voice over who and how they will be governed in the future.

    You’re a dinosaur.

That’s bollocks. It’s their future and they should have a right to contribute their opinions.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Allowing 16+ to vote is a good thing both Scotland and Wales are doing.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I think the most interesting thing to watch for will be the Scottish results.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That’s Ian Holloway logic.... like the time he tried to blame the EU for VAR.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

IDS is so fucking cretinous - a man that celebrates winning a welfare sanctions vote like he’d just won the Champions Legaue. What a c**t.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

OK - but how do you get MP’s to be accountable? How many Labour MP’s are representative of the constituencies they hold. This careerist model which seems to exist is how we ended up with the ‘all as bad as each other’ notion. Peter Bone is my local MP - done fuck all for this constituency for as...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

We’ve had 4 elections in 11 years, with a hugely divisive referendum added to the mix. We’ve got a voting system that is no longer fit for purpose, a media that does not and will not hold the incumbent government to any kind of scrutiny. Add to that a major political party that failed to uphold...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

For all his faults (and there were plenty) he did have a narrative that people wanted to listen to. Starmer would be in a stronger position if he didn’t try so hard to move away from some of his ideas.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

There are lots of good and decent people that get categorised into this group. People that want parity and fairness, the chance of a decent life for all. When did it become so ‘loony’ to want everyone to have the chance to get on the housing ladder (or have enough houses at the very least), have...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Without wanting to get into conspiracy, would be interested to see a breakdown of tabloid sales by region in relation to voting patterns. The voting patterns in somewhere like Liverpool which has virtually zero sales of the Sun and far less of other papers like the Mail/Express seems to suggest...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

You are probably right about the Tory Teflon effect at the moment. What Labour don’t appear to have done is give the electorate a reason to vote for them ‘other than not being Tory’ or ‘new management’ in an era where the current incumbent are pretty untouchable. I think Starmer is being let...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

But that’s a completely different argument to the national picture. Labour have served the area at both national MP and local council area for many years, so if there is dis-satisfaction you can see why it would manifest itself that way. The biggest con the Tories managed in the Red-Wall seats...

Is it? Proportionally based on total users you could argue that is not true.
