Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Fundamentally it seems that the Labour party will always get the leader that the right wing press find the most acceptable. As a Labour party member, I voted for Corbyn, because I could never in good conscience vote for anyone who sat on their hands whilst the Tories pushed through their...

    Wasps signs have actually gone!!

Probably a bit more ethical, or at the very least regulated by the FCA who are (finally) all over responsible lending and the fair treatment of vulnerable customers. The real sharks here were the payday lenders whose model seemed to depend on customers going into default and accumulating...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Given you're pretty close to it all, do you have any thoughts on how it all ends? My uneducated guess is a year or so of relative, grinding, hideous, horrific, stalemate, and then Putin slips whilst cleaning his penthouse windows. That might be a bit optimistic though...

    COV RFC 2022 - 2023

I'm not sure the members at Stourbridge will be entirely keen on this rebrand mate. They're not exactly a big club, but there is a lot of history there. We (Cov) played them in 1880! This might not be plain sailing for the (wankers) at Atlas, I think they may have jumped the gun a bit with...

The west edge of town, manning the barricades against the invading Brummie hordes. 😄

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Some fair points mate, all wars eventually end with some sort of negotiation, but I think it's up to Ukraine to decide when that point is reached. As a nation we can't do it on our own, but NATO and Europe can obviously do a lot more should they choose to. Even the military superpowers...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

The Ukrainians aren't asking us to fight their battles for them, or for us to send our children to die in their fields, they're just asking for the tools to defend themselves. At heart, I'm a pacifist, but it seems to me that history has taught us that there's a point at which inaction becomes...

Match Thread ⚽️ West Bromwich Albion vs Coventry City Match Thread

Struggling to see us getting much out of this. That said we've had a couple of decent chances, but for the most part it feels like we're chasing shadows. Albrighton looks a properly good signing, we could do with keeping him a bit quieter. Might be a long second half...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

This has been the Tories' plan forever. Underfund the NHS until it's at breaking point and then present privatisation as the only alternative. Who benefits? Themselves, their rich mates, and their corporate lobbyists and donors. Who loses? Everyone else, but especially the poorest and most...

    Benjamin Mendy.

I hear what you're saying, but given that potentially only one in a thousand rape cases end in conviction, I think I'd be focussing on that area ahead of the false accusations. Both are horrible crimes of course, but the sheer number of victims of one must be an order of magnitude or two greater...

    Benjamin Mendy.

So in broad brush strokes the numbers seem to be along the lines of 1% of rapes reported, and of those reported, 1% end up in convictions. That doesn't suggest to me that the burden of proof for a conviction is too low. This has been an issue for a very long time...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Doddle mate, just get one of your old school friends or alumni to get you a job where you can directly influence the award of Government contracts and have a say over planning law or regulatory requirements. Easy if you went to the right school (and have the required moral flexibility)...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

How can it not impact your job, seriously? Being an MP is arguably the most important role in the country. You're representing tens of thousands of constituents and providing leadership and governance for the entire country. If you've got time for a second job then you're not taking it...

    Doug King Takeover

Actually, I'm blaming the typically shite level of journalism in the CET for the endless speculation and stress here. More of this "it's understood that the EFL have ratified the deal". Andy Turner et al, if you do read this, the CET has gone from a respected newspaper to an absolute...

That's exactly what worries me too. The timing of the King bid was very odd and very last minute. Nothing about it seems organised or straightforward, and the EFL delays only add to that suspicion. Don't get me wrong, I'd be delighted to see the back of SISU, but it just feels 'off' somehow and...

    Fabio Tavares

I wonder if Tavares is a better player coming on against tired defenders than starting a game? He wasn't getting much change against a fairly average defence yesterday. I'd love to see him come good, but I'm not really certain he ever will. That said, I hope he recovers quickly from his injury...

Match Thread Wrexham FA Cup match

Well, at least it was an exciting watch. If they've been working on defending long throws in training, it clearly didn't pay off! I don't know what's happened to Dabo or Moore, they both seem to have gone backwards massively. Might just be me, but I'm not going to get hugely upset about it...

    Doug King Takeover

The longer it takes, the more dubious it feels to me. "Imminent" is a meaningless word in this context, and I can't see why there needs to be a veil of secrecy on the process - the club, the EFL, or King himself could explain the delays without giving away any commercial secrets. For example if...

Lost item tuns up after refund..advice

I'd tell them that you haven't got access to a printer and given the packaging isn't secure you're unable to return it until they provide new packaging and a proper label. Mess 'em about a bit. If you've already had the refund then I think they're screwed unless they recharge your card.
