    The Goldstone Ground

Went twice. 1st time must have been early in the season (79?) as it was still warm (must have been their first season back in Div 1 for a while, Peter Ward was their star player. 2nd time was year after (perhaps) and it was cold and wet on that open terrace in the corner. I remember coppers...

Christmas Quiz Results - And the Winner!

I second that. Great quiz again Grendel which helped relieve some of the lockdown boredom. I too was doing lots of searches for wife stranglers, hope Mrs WSB understands. Congratulations to Razzle Dazzle, great sleuthing to get the GK answer.

    Festive fixture memories

You are right, it was 2 years later that he came on as a sub for them and I think we lost 2-0.

I was there that day too. Travelled up on my own. You are right Huckerby was on fire that day, he ran them ragged. Gary Mac took a load of abuse from the home support.

He was fantastic while he was with us, could never understand why we didn’t sign him.

Unfortunately I was there too that day. If I remember correctly the ref was giving Leicester everything and that’s why Gould was so annoyed. I also think Laurie Cunningham played for Leicester that day.

That’s right we played at Villa the day before drawing 1-1. Can you imagine the fuss that would be made nowadays about playing 2 games in 2 games, especially with smaller squads and only 1 sub?

Most goals by of City player in first team match

The South Bank was to our left and it seemed to me that there was trouble up there most of the game; it was back in the day when there was little or no segregation. As a 14yo kid I was glad to be in the seats.

Most goals by of City player in first team match

Paul Edwards in my opinion, was one of the worst players I ever saw play for us in the top flight. IIRC he came with a reasonable reputation from Crewe but he always seemed to be a bag of nerves who treated the ball as if it was a hand grenade.

Most goals by of City player in first team match

I can’t be 100% sure but I think that Wolves match where Ferguson scored 3 was my first ever away game. We were in the old stand opposite the tunnel.

Just seen that Irish Sky Blue has posted same thing....

Most goals by of City player in first team match

Didn’t Mick Ferguson score 4 goals against Ipswich way back? I am sure it said Ferguson 4 Ipswich 0 on the scoreboard at the end of the match, or have I just made that up?

    Sad news about CCFCWAY

RIP Wayne. So sad to hear that such a young father has passed away, thoughts are with his family and friends.
