    this rent bollocks

How on earth is the NIA difficult to get to, it's less than a mile from New Street, serviced by all the buses into Brum city centre and has loads of parking. I would say it's way ahead of the Rioch in terms of how easy it is to get to.

Would you travel 45 miles to watch Cov play their home games?

I'd go as much as I do now, wouldn't make a massive amount of difference to me as I come up from Portsmouth. Surely how people view it would depend on how long it was for. If it was a case of playing the rest of this season while someone closer was made up to standard then surely people wouldn't...

    JPT Game On Sky

I bloody hate the JPT! I've arranged to be in Cov on the Tuesday and Wednesday that week assuming the game would be one of those days and they pick Thursday and if we get to the final I'll be in New York.

    stadium rent deal

But hopefully your landlord doesn't rent your house out to other people while you're living in it! CCFC use the pitch no more than 30 days a year, there's nothing stopping ACL making use of it the rest of the time, as they did with the Olympics, rugby etc, so why should CCFC be the only ones...

    A Reminder to ACL...

If there's another team wanting to play at the Ricoh why not move them in and ground share? The fact that hasn't happened would seem to indicate there's noone waiting in the wings to leap in and fill the void. I mentioned in another thread (can't remember which one or I'd be replying in that!)...

Venue to be announced for home JPT semi

To be fair that just says at home, doesn't say where home is going to be!

CET: The deal turned down by sisu revealed

think that's a key point, they aren't going to accept any deal that doesn't backdate any new rent agreed. Also this deal talks about 3 years, what happens after that? if ACL are in as healthy a position as they keep claiming they should be able to offer a drop to £200K and backdate that. Maybe...

What the Ricoh has done for Coventry

I would guess the 3,000 people is a number for the whole arena complex (including the retail park) and includes part time and casual workers. The figure you really need is the number of full times job just at the arena itself and you'd need to deduct from that the number of jobs there were at...

CCFC STATEMENT - and.... who the fook is Peter Ward? Bugger off

you could say we'll agree to pay X amount from now and and discuss the arrears as a seperate issue, don't see why that would be out of the question. From the interview with Issacs on the Midlands Today Facebook it looks like ACL may be insisting on the arrears being paid in full before any new...

Do ACL need us or not?

You could look at it another way, CCFC only use the pitch 1, sometimes 2, days of the week. Why should it be down to them to pay for it 7 days a week? It was also said the money SISU pay employs ground staff, pitch being relaid etc. Again you could make an argument that's not the clubs problem...

Oh to be Hull - why can't Coventry Council halp CCFC

didn't the council own the land for years and leave it wasteland? if they'd wanted to so desperately to do something with it why didn't they do it then when they economy was booming and people were throwing money around?

Do ACL need us or not?

who would that be then? can't think of anyone local who would need a 30K capacity. wonder if those who are interested are looking to pay 1.2m? assuming it's another sport why couldn't the Ricoh have 2 teams playing there, works at many other grounds.

    Mr Fisher please wake up

So when you strip out all the grants and payments from people like Tesco etc we're looking at the council putting 10m in and a loan of 32.1m. ACL then paid the council 20m (?) for the lease so surely the council have doubled their money straight away. Higgs paid 6.3m to CCFC for half of ACL (did...

There would be scope to restructure but I can't think of another tenant who would use the Ricoh as a stadium on a regular basis. Conversion for another use would cost money and who would pay that, you're prob looking at £10m plus for a roof for starters. Weren't the council / ACL looking to...

For the 2 I would take a stab in the dark that ACL will get around £1m. Out of that they will need to pay all the costs of staffing etc, no idea how much that would be as that's not my area but if you work out what CCFC are paying per match and on the basis that 4 times as many people equals 4...

Some answers to some of the many questions

Wonder what the breakdown is of who put what into the stadium overall. If it cost £113m and ACL put in £20m, £40m from the Tesco deal, £4m from Higgs (am I counting that twice? does that come as part of the ACL £20m?), wasn't there around £10m in grants who put the rest in? And that's just the...

Most acts will have a flat fee (and a very high one at that) and then a % if any profit made, that % is likely to be 80% as a minim so you can see if the show does make a lot of profit it's the artist that benefits. The promoter makes their money as a % cut of what the artist makes also through...

    Fisher on CWR

I did wonder that myself. For the first time in a very long time there was a bit of a buzz about the club. The upcoming Spurs match, possible trip to Wembley, much improved results under MR and then literally the day after an epic win in the JPT with everyone being positive for a change we get this.

nail firmly hit on the head there, if the picture Ricoh2012 is painting is correct (and I'm assuming he works there or has access to inside information so will assume he is correct) then to be frank ACL could drop the rent to next to nothing and still be rolling in money. if they genuinely are...
