    Transfer Rumour Ellis Simms

I thought Simms played alright, looked a handful cutting from the left but didn’t get a good chance. He will progress and Wright will too and they will form a really good partnership. As for Godden, I’ve been critical of him and he’s proven a lot of doubters wrong. Absolutely worth a new...

Today’s game was an interesting matchup given our respective seasons. We’ve managed the situation with Hamer and Gyokeres far better than they have with Akpom. Moreover, we’ve replenished our squad and look better for the churn of players we’ve had. Great result today, 3-0 does flatter to...

    Hamer

We’ve got a nice pot of money to replace Hamer now. It’s a cause for excitement that we can go out and sign a few more players on permanent deals. Sad to see Hamer go, but deal represents good value so I have no real complaints.

It’s really nice inside Wimbledon’s stadium! Very glad to tick this one off of the list!

Judging from what MR has said he’s looking for, it won’t be an ‘out and out’ striker but someone who can play as an AM/wider so we have a viable option for the box formation. Morgan Whittaker, annoyingly, would’ve been an ideal type of signing.

In theory, Godden makes a good backup option. In practice, he doesn’t really fit into our style of way. He doesn’t have the physical attributes to get impact the game and more worryingly, his confidence in front of goal seems to have taken a knock. In the right team, Godden could do really...

    Transfer targets

I’ll be more frank. I don’t think we can trust Godden to bury chances in the way we could in our first Championship years. That was the one thing no one could dispute about Godden. It could just be confidence or he’s deteriorating as a player. If it is true that we want another striker, then...

The nature of the game was quite back and forth. We created more ‘big chances’ despite our lack of possession. There’s going to space in those kind of games. In the second half of games, fatigue becomes more of a factor. Robins highlighted that Leicester’s style of play worn us down - hence...

Eccles didn’t keep their winger quiet. There was a couple of moments Maviddi skipped down our right hand side and Thomas was doing a lot of covering work. That change was more tactical, as we were pushing forward, there was more space down the flanks to attack. Whereas, in the first half, we...

    Team for Wednesday

This game is a great opportunity to build fitness for the squad, particularly the new signings. Collins Thomas Lati Binks MVE Kelly Eccles Bidwell Sakamoto Wright Simms/Palmer I’d either play Simms to build the relationship with Wright or build Palmer’s fitness using the box formation with...

    Hamer

To add on to your point, the signings we’ve made that cost money have largely been successful. We’ve gone from being a L1 side, Championship relegation battle to competing at the top table of the league. Some players are going to become surplus to requirements as our goals get loftier.

    Subs

Losing Hamer was the difference. If you take him out of our team we really struggle to play the way we want. I'm not sure Eccles staying at CM would've changed much materially. I imagine people would be questioning why Kelly wasn't brought on to protect a lead in. Simms was probably taken off...

Godden’s finishing seems to have massively deteriorated. Personally do not trust him to finish chances and we should consider getting rid to be honest.

The service for our strikers has not been great. Godden and Simms do not appear to be strikers who can fashion chances themselves. Wright will be an important addition if his style of play is similar to Gyokeres.

Hadji Wright and MVE on as soon as we can. The game needs their directness. Might be worth playing 5-3-2 to mitigate Leicester’s midfield dominance. MVE for Palmer or Eccles at this point.

We haven’t been great, but for all of Sky’s insistence of Leicester’s ‘dominance’ - they only have a few tame efforts to show for it. Have all the possession you want. We’re well equipped to deal with it defensively.

Most impressed with Bobby Thomas so far! He’s been v good - snuffing out plenty of attacks and comfortable on the ball.
