Probably our best team with what’s available. It’s too early to say Torp > Eccles but with MR saying he wanted to take him off (but couldn’t) suggested he may be rested next game.

    Simms

For team that’s made so many bad signings, we seem to be doing alright!

Pretty sure Godden was 3rd choice last season after Kelly and McFadz?

It is when you factor in the following: - Palmer thrives when he has space - Palmer has less league goals than Godden and Simms - COH plays as a CAM, so Palmer wouldn’t be a false 9, he’d play as a striker So what are we actually improving by playing Palmer as a False 9?

With respect, stick to spectating. Terrible shout.

Which is why we’re after wingers. You have to establish cause and effect. Is it the strikers who are not finishing the chance or the service to them? As I’ve been banging on for a while, we’ve struggled to create good opportunities for our strikers in recent games. Simms, it is fair to say...

Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday - Coventry City [FA] Match Thread - Friday 26th Jan

It certainly became a meaningless gesture, especially when every team was doing it before every game. However, last night it was good to see the squad rallied together. I have no issues with Sheffield Wednesday standing in solidarity - the incident would have hurt their own players too. On one...

Or that without Sheaf and Torp we didn’t look like creating anything.

    Simms

When he was 19/20? It’s respectable for sure. The issue is that we’re not producing good enough chances for our strikers.

8 in 21 at Blackpool (1 in 2.6 goals per game) and 5 in 17 at Hearts (1 in 3.4) suggests otherwise. We’re the outlier.

He’s a L2 striker… Even if he’s good for the Championship our recruitment policy should be orientated to players taking us to the next level: the Prem.

In the summer, for sure. Not right now.

Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday - Coventry City [FA] Match Thread - Friday 26th Jan

The difference is that we had a week to recover from that game and momentum going into the Leicester game was important. Last night, we’ve had a difficult run of games and MR alluded to that catching up with a number of our players. We’ve got Bristol on Tuesday and Norwich away on Saturday...

    Do we even miss Hamer?

If Victor Toro’s debut is anything to go by… We most certainly missed Hamer and Torp could fill the void. He will get goals, assists and an upgrade in set pieces. Good work MR and the team!

Long term, that’s definitely the case. But, in the summer replacing those players wasn’t a priority because we had a lot more pressing needs.

Allen probably stays one more season at the current trajectory. He offers a lot of energy and last season has improved his goals and assists. Doesn’t get the same game time now but he still contributes. Sheaf, Eccles and Torp is a good group, but think we need a 4th CM to get through the...

    Victor Torp

I thought our midfield couldn’t be improved? 😉

6 points from 6. I’d be more than happy to play them every week. I’m happy to see the back of Hillsborough for a few months now. After seeing the improvement under Rohl, Wednesday have got a decent chance of survival now.

    Simms

Half chances sums it up really. Two consecutive games v Sheff Wednesday have failed to produce a clear cut chance for our strikers. Their movement is there, we’re just not finding them atm. We’re really good at creating opportunities in wide areas but centrally was been a problem.

    Simms

Godden and Simms just haven’t had any real chances to work with the last few games.
