Plus the first player had a double barrelled first name. Not surname.

    Deadline day Feb 2024

We’ve settled on a formation that works with our personnel and there’s not need to change that yet. We have one real wide player in a formation that plays two. Wright has played well and Palmer has done a decent job filling in. But, if you lose Sakamoto I can’t see is playing two players out of...

    Deadline day Feb 2024

It’s not just the formation and when interviewed, Robins had no issues with our performances back then. No COH, and a side that needed ‘bedding in’. The big change wasn’t so much the formation, it’s been the partnership of Sakamoto and MVE down the right wing. Can you imagine Simms, Palmer or...

    Transfer targets

If we revisit the pre-season threads lots of people were tipping them to do well. My predictions for the end of the league: - Title will go to the final day between Leeds and Leicester (probably Southampton too) - Ipswich to finish 4th - We’ll finish in the playoff
  5. Mucca Mad Boys

    Deadline day Feb 2024

We’ll just adapt and revert to 3-4-1-2/the box again. It’s not ideal but the team is familiar with it still.

Their form over Jan was pretty poor. Their only win was against Sunderland at home. Just like Stoke and Birmingham were tipped by SBT to have done well in the transfer market over the summer, I think Hull won’t make the playoffs this season.

I would play Torp, I thought he had some really nice touches v Bristol in what was a difficult game for the team as a whole.
  8. Mucca Mad Boys

    Deadline day Feb 2024

Just like last season was our last chance? If we’re towards the end of this 5 year plan, I’d totally understand the willingness to gamble. But we’re not and we’re in a good position to be patient and wait for the right players. Scenario 1: Our main targets are unavailable this window but will...

Well, you got the first two letters right… 😂

We played 3-4-1-2 against Wednesday without Sakamoto. To me, that was rather telling. MR seemed happy enough with that performance. Add COH, Wright and Bidwell to that team and I think we’d be alright. Saka isn’t injured so it’s all academic anyway.

That’s such a misrepresentation of what I and others have said. My point is that since switching formation, Sakamoto has been a key part and without him, the likelihood is that we would change formation. 4-2-3-1 is clearly the long term system for us so a reversion back to 3-4-1-2 because of...

Catastrophising over small things. I’m sure Robins and his team have plans in place if key players get injured. Last year we made the playoffs without COH. I don’t think anyone sober would’ve called that in the new year of 2022/23.

That would be ambitious 😂 … Alan Nixon to RT his vague tweet from earlier on in the window.

I scanned into the Oxford game on my phone without printing the ticket.

    Simms

Just earlier in this thread people were criticising Godden’s and Simm’s positioning. You can’t win. Simply put, our strikers are not thriving because for all of their faults, they also haven’t had much service. Godden had 2 touches in the boxes against Oxford and he scored - I actually can’t...

    Transfer targets

PNE was our last game starting 3-4-1-2 in the league, right? It’s worth pointing out that we haven’t won a game playing 4-2-3-1 where Sakamoto hasn’t started RM. When he was started, he’s played 90m in all but 3 times. I don’t think it’s an understatement to say that his contributions have been...

Have we? Who played in that spot?

100% agree and I’d go as far as to say that without Sakamoto, we probably won’t play 4-2-3-1/4-3-3.

    Transfer targets

I agree, but as mentioned elsewhere, I think the team looked tired as a whole. It was bad when Sheaf and Torp went off. If Sakamoto and Wright gets injured, we don’t really have anyone to play out wide. It’s important to note COH wasn’t playing either. If we can’t get a wide player in we...

Plan B will be to change formation - perhaps the Box will make a comeback. Saka did look tired last night.
