No-one is suggesting it's the norm, so you can forget anyone is. The outrage (faux or not) isn't warranted. The UK isn't working 9-5 Monday to Friday like it was probably only a couple of decades ago. Those annoyed about it being 6pm on a Monday aren't up in arms about 12.30pm on a Saturday...

This isn't the 90s anymore, people don't just work 9-5 and have the weekends off. The people moaning about 6pm kick off over the Xmas and New Year period, you don't hear a peep out of when the kick offs suit them.
