Since we switched from 4-2-3-1, his reintroduction to the team was when Sheaf got injured, then Torp gets injured and finally Sakamoto. In 2024, his involvement is mostly because our best XI was not available.

Exactly. For example, Sakamoto in the lead up to his injury, played more less 90m every game when we switched to 4-2-3-1. His performances started to tail off in the 2-3 games prior to his injury.

Lati has only been starting because of injuries. We’ve mostly played the best team that’s available to us this season. MVE is not a winger and next season I doubt will ever play there if we recruit well. Likewise, with CM - should never play there again if we being in 1-2 players.

It’s an accumulation of the season. We haven’t had depth and it’s caught up with us. We didn’t decide to start JDS and Eccles on the wings, Godden and Kelly’s first starts since Feb and March for ‘lols’. The quality is obviously higher, but co no pared to last season, we have about 4 less...

    Bradley collins

He kicked the ball onto the striker, his best bet would’ve been to concede a penalty and a red card. Which would’ve probably led to a worse outcome than a goal.

We were playing really well when Sheaf was conducting things in midfield but he needed to go off before he injured himself. We ended the game with Palmer, Allen and Kelly in midfield none of which are starting calibre players for a playoff contending team. Incremental progress, building the...

He tried to do exactly that and the striker was right on him. An absolute hospital pass from Thomas.

Agreed, the team was a spent force tonight which was a concern going into tonight. That doesn’t excuse Thomas back passes. Collins was 100% at fault for goal number one, but not number 3.

    Bradley collins

What could he have done? He’s kicked the ball into the striker and it’s gone in. I don’t think he could’ve made a clever touch past him either. It was a terrible back pass and it’s not exactly Thomas’ first time doing it - a v similar incident to Watford at home.

100%. He couldn’t just dive on the ball, I had a good view of it unfortunately and Thomas nearly went and did it again moments later.

Good effort from the team today given the context of an emotionally and physically draining FA Cup semi final at the weekend. At 2-2, we should’ve won the game but we had nothing after Sheaf came off. We look lost in midfield without him. However, that does not excuse the defence and Collins...

We are 3 points off playoffs if we win our games in hand. It takes 1 loss or 2 daws for us to claw that back. To quote Neil Warnock, we’ve got to ‘die for 3 points’. Personally, I think 4 wins is too big an ask, but if results go our way, 3 wins and a draw could do it too.

Jim Same boat here! I’m not 100% ready for the 2 hour commute after work to watch football! We go again and a good 3 points to keep the dream alive is what the doctor ordered! Despite my pessimism today!

    24/25 changes?

I know you wouldn’t agree. We have 2 left backs and 2 GK. Therefore, they are ‘nice to have’ rather than a need. AM - we only have Palmer and Allen going into 2024/25 CM - only Eccles, Sheaf and Torp - that’s not enough for 46+ games RW - only Sakamoto ST - Simms and Wright are starters with...

    24/25 changes?

Agreed. Our starting point from last season is a lot stronger. Midfield needs more bodies out wide (RW) and centrally (AM & CM) as a priority. Personally, it’s area I feel we’ve lacked the most against too half teams too. Afterward, a striker is needed to replace Godden and keep Simms/Wright...

    24/25 changes?

There’s a lot of underestimating how much is needed to be an automatic challenging team. There’s a lot of improvement required to be a Top 4 team. We’ve got a good foundation, but a long way to go still.

Exactly, I’m sure ‘first point of contact’ was in the context of playing the ball. That’s at least how it used to be interpreted. You’re right, that scenario you highlight would be ‘onside’ in theory. In practice, you couldn’t see them ruling it onside.
