Match Thread Coventry City - Ipswich Town [FA] Match Thread - Saturday 8th Feb

Up until a few weeks ago the consensus was the defence was just not good enough. Then dovin came back in goal and we kept a few clean sheets. Today just confirms that whatever combination (players or formation) we play at the back we struggle against any pace. Defenders not strong enough, not...

Match Thread Coventry City vs Leeds United - Match Thread - Weds 5th Feb 7.45pm KO

Schooled tonight by a v good championship side. Quick, skill full and aggressive. I had to check in the first half they only had 11 on the pitch as they always appeared to have at least one extra man. We gifted them both goals and they could/should have scored 3 or 4 more. They showed the gulf...

    The Oliver Dovin appreciation thread

Agreed…one almighty cockup (him, Lati and Thomas) but apart from that an excellent performance and easily our motm. Despite the barracking from the Leeds fans after the mistake he kept his head and composure. Will be a star in the future for us and/or a top European side

They could be 4 up and you couldn’t complain. Defensively this the worst we played since Portsmouth. Midfield non existent in covering or being creative. Asante showing all his weaknesses. Simms a few dreadful touches but at least trying (that’s the only positive I can find)

Ruud Van Nistelrooy applies for Coventry Job

Oh what a shame they didn’t stick with Cooper. You have to have a quiet giggle at their fans who clamoured for Coopers sacking, lauding the appointment of RVN are the same ones now bemoaning his naive tactics/substitutions.

A point away is ok but after that performance (first half dreadful), second against 10men not pressing enough it really feels like 2points dropped. Big month now…need a few loans at least or I fear we could be dragged into a scrap.

Beginning to look very shaky on the road. Toothless upfront, ineffective in midfield and weak at the back. Come on city show some passion and fight.

Simms needs to start firing now (would like Bassette on after 65/70 to work off simms). Not sure about rudoni on the left…didn’t really come off against Millwall. Thought sakamoto might be rested for this one. Can the defence keep their third clean sheet…big ask today I think but nice to see it...

Has Dovin helped steady things more than we think ?

I feel calmer with dovin in goal. The back four seem calmer with Dovin in goal. Two clean sheets on the trot (first time since last Christmas)…speaks for itself.

Match Thread Coventry City - Plymouth Argyle Match Thread - Thursday 26th Dec

No matter what Lampard says (or doesn’t say) in the press conference it’s what he (and the coaches) drill into the team for the next game. I’m sure he knows by now the shortcomings he is working with and hopefully he is beginning to instil some passion and fight, after that abysmal second half...

    Season over already?

Got to get some steel and fight in the side. For a side to collapse mentally as we did as soon as the keeper messes up is very worrying. Equally to physically not compete during the second half and let a very average side run the show should set the alarm bells ringing. Not sure what Lampard can...

Match Thread Portsmouth FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 21st Dec

Portsmouth are a poor side but we haven’t laid a glove on them second half. And with the way we have defended a Sunday league would have a chance beating us

Match Thread Portsmouth FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 21st Dec

Should have been out of sight but 2 dreadful defensive cock-ups means yet again we are chasing a game. We were in control until the Collins flap then dive over the ball. Not going to trouble the play offs giving so many soft goals away.

Match Thread West Bromwich Albion - Coventry City Match Thread - Wednesday 11th Dec

Thought we played ok last night but yet again lost 2-0 to a team that hardly threatened. Collins doesn’t inspire confidence at crosses etc, the back four looked pretty solid until the CBs (and midfield) fell asleep for their second. Bidwell certainly offered more than JDS (at the back if not...

Match Thread West Bromwich Albion - Coventry City Match Thread - Wednesday 11th Dec

We haven’t done badly. Yes they better with ball but only had a few shots (one deflected in)…think defence much better and we have created a couple of near chances. Get their player on a yellow isolated and run at him. Their keeper much better/more confident than Collins. Certainly still in this...

Match Thread West Bromwich Albion - Coventry City Match Thread - Wednesday 11th Dec

Absolutely. We have seen some improvement last couple games so if that continues tonight then we may get a point. Will West Brom’s run of draws continue or will there finally be a positive result (hopefully for us)
