Still two months to play with, not like we’re a fortnight away from the window closing. £15m seems a bit of a shit offer, King must know we can get more.

Nevertheless Blues surely aren’t going to sell him on the cheap if he’s got a bit

100% - and he does a lot more than just score goals

Can’t work out with this transfer. On game time, he played mostly at the end of the season. Does that suggest they were putting him in the shop window? It wouldn’t make sense for Blues to sell for £3m if they thought he was a talent. If he was they’d get triple that in 12 months, because with...

But likely earning a lot more, and a higher place to drop from.

    Gyokeres

Yeah if that’s happens great. However fairly major risk if it doesn’t work out as you’ve said. Earning good money, but not mega money. Sporting players have got a record of leaving for the sort of PL sides Gyokeres is already linked with - so I’d say it’s not as great a move as it seems

    Gyokeres

Seems a risky approach though - he’d have to do well in the Europa league, because the Portuguese league is pretty poor. 4 games a season against decent opposition. I agree with the lifestyle point, Lisbon is a beautiful city and he’d have a great time there. However football is a short career...

    Gyokeres

It doesn’t but it’s objectively the best league where players can earn the most money, so it’s illogical to not move there if you have the chance.

    Gyokeres

He’s 25, not 21 - if he does minimum two years years there then he’s 27. Probably rules out most clubs paying a significant fee, and he’ll still have (as reported) 3 years left on his contract. His stock is high now, why not cash his chips for a PL move now. Unless there genuinely isn’t interest

    Gyokeres

Really surprising. The bottom half of that league is like non-league here. The players might be a bit better but the stadiums and attendances are so poor. Surely if a PL side were interested, he wouldn’t go.

    Hamer

This is what most of us thought walking out of Wembley
  12. Y

    Gyokeres

Yeah get that. Just find it surprising, it seems such an obvious move if I was a low-middling PL side in need of a striker. Perhaps that is the issue..

    Gyokeres

Every signing is a risk though, so where do you draw the line? Dominating in the Championship is a pretty fair indicator for being a success in the PL. There have clearly been a load watching him, the pundits love him, his stats are brilliant.

    Gyokeres

It’s not a large fee for a striker though. And the same can be said for buying from any other league.
  15. Y

    Gyokeres

Yeah possibly, though it’s not that much money for a player with his record, especially when you look at other PL successes. Perhaps his finishing is too much of a concern.
  16. Y

    Gyokeres

The idea that no PL side is interested would really surprise me.

    Gyokeres

Well then why do European competition level players end up in mid-bottom half PL teams? Because they’re paid more here. It’s not a delusion is it, just how the world works.
  18. Y

    Gyokeres

Wouldn’t say it’s English delusions. It’s financially driven. You can earn the most money there, for now.

    Transfer Rumour Milan Van Ewjik

Like this. Want to see us speculate to accumulate, has worked really well for us in the past 3 years, despite some of the failures. £5m is a lot but the championship a great shop window. If he performs he could be worth 50-100% more in 12 months.

    Hamer

We have to be careful here. As some are saying, if we blow the wage structure on Hamer then it will cost us more than the extra £10k a week. Existing player contract discussions, and new players negotiations with agents. Hamer is worth it, no doubt - but what are the knock-on effects? If we...
