We’ve been able to hit teams on the counter attack more away from home. To pick out a few goals: - EMC v Derby & Wrexham - BTA v Pompey - KKH & Simms v Millwall - Simms v Sheff W There’s more, but these were all goals we’ve hit team on the counter being almost route one football. At home we...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Exactly and Watford are actually a good team, they’ll be up in and around the playoffs come May. Having several players out for AFCON however is potentially debilitating. We’re not fitting in Louza, Torp, Rudoni and Grimes in the same team. None of those players are rotation players in the...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Where dos Louza fit in? Clearly a top end player in this league but unless he’s definitely displacing Torp/Rudoni, it’s not a goer imo. Jimmy’s source reckons we’re looking at a midfielder from Europe which strikes me as a more realistic market to look at. Watford lose 4 players to AFCON...

Correct, they play Leicester x2, Boro and Birmingham in December.

To add to your point, we’ve not conceded first in any of our away games which is huge. We’ve conceded first 3 times at home. Frankly, we should’ve won all 3 of those! Let’s hope that away form serves us well in the next 3 (Boro, Ipswich, PNE).

    Rivals for auto spots

In relation to ourselves, I don’t think it’s too early to say we’re going to fighting for automation promotion this season. Lampard has been averaging around 2 PPG since he’s took over. The hype is real.

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Has it? They stand to annex 3-4 regions of eastern Ukraine to connect the mainland to Crimea. It’s come at tremendous cost and perhaps that has longer term ramifications (like Soviet-Afghan war)… In short, just because they didn’t achieve maximalist aims, doesn’t mean they haven’t won.

A win tomorrow and he moves up to 2 PPG on the dot. It goes without saying that he came in such difficult circumstances and took a while to get his methods coached into the team as well as injuries to key players at the time. All things considered, this season isn’t a fluke. It’s real and if...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

My critique is that Europe and the US have allowed this conflict to become frozen. The possibility of a Ukrainian victory is remote. Europe can pontificate about the peace plan being in Putin’s favour and so on but at this point, what is the alternative? Russia has ‘won’ the war and unless...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

What would you have done differently in response to the invasion? From whose perspective? In any case, a few things would’ve helped the Ukrainians: - cut off economic ties with Russia in full - don’t delay getting arms to Ukraine (Germany delayed shipments and at times blocked export of...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

The Russian economy relies heavily on its gas/oil exports so that would've been a massive step to take. The West as a whole has given Ukraine just enough to sustain its war effort but never enough to win it. Constant delays in getting equipment to Ukraine and so on whilst buying Russian gas and...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Of course. Principled opposition looks like going 'all in' on aid to Ukraine and cutting off all ties with Russia completely, irrespective of the discomfort it would cause us. Europe talks tough but ultimately hasn't put its weight behind Ukraine to give it a realistic chance of winning. Of...

    Championship thread 25/26!

Absolutely, after Xmas 2024, we were the 3rd best team in the league. Only Leeds and Burnley Got more points than us and we didn’t win an away game from March. The promoted team from L1 are stronger than previous years and the relegated teams are statistically good (bar Leicester) but their...

    Attendances

Why is it different? Football clubs are loss making businesses so this entitlement complex from consumers (football fans) is astounding. The bigger picture is that sports events are actually one of the few things that's tracked below inflation. Wages, transfer fees and normal day-to-day running...

He's a different profile and Bamford tbf has played AM, RW LW as well as striker so seemed like a decent FA to add like Paterson last season.

    Attendances

On this issue, particularly, it's a bit of a mountain out of a molehill tbh. Anyone who travels to games regularly will see that comfortably 70-80% (conservative) are U18. At a rough guestimate, I reckon the % of sales for OAPs would be higher than U18s.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Lampard likes him, he was second choice behind Haji last season. This season, Haji and BTA’s form has meant you can’t drop either right now and had Simms scored v Pompey, probably gets a a start v Watford. That’s all academic. Lampard has shown a willingness to be meritocratic in team selection...
