Match Thread Coventry City - Portsmouth FC Match Thread - Wednesday 9th Apr

Would personally go with this. I think Grimes does better when left as the sole DM as against Sunderland then when we add a partner in a 4-2-3-1 like Burnley. Wilson has to come in for me. Also think Sheaf can help us win some balls higher up the pitch. EMC to start on the bench, if nothing...

    Tats New Contract

Think he’d be a good option from the bench but worst case, plenty of championship teams would buy him for more than the 1.3 million spent

    Tats New Contract

Happy for him and us. On his day can turn any defender inside out
  4. Sky Blue Goblin

    Quality

Double edge sword as do feel his concentration lets him down but he also won us several points like against Stoke or QPR. Think an experienced CB next to him would do a lot for his development
  5. Sky Blue Goblin

    Southampton

I mean that’s fair but would I thought he’d want to do a full season although Southampton offers a lower level and a lot more money and tools. Means in essence he would have a easier time to get back to the prem

    Southampton

Just seen today they’ve got rid of their manager and seen Talk sport on about them and Lampard. Imagine he at the very least completes another year?
  7. Sky Blue Goblin

    Quality

Can’t see us being able to build a top two squad for as long as parachute payments are in place (unless we get a wealthy owner willing to throw a lot on it). As such the ambition would have to be a top six (closer to 4 than 6 mind). Starting Dovin MVE Thomas Grimes Sheaf EMC Rudoni Wright...

    Final 6

12 points would probably be enough granted we don’t make it harder for ourselves against Boro or WBA
  9. Sky Blue Goblin

    Final 6

Imagine that would be more than enough to get us top six and have a lot of momentum behind us.

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Just seen Tom Lawrence linked to us. Assume it’s just either agent talk or guess work since Lampard is here. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14564483/Wrexham-interested-Rangers-star-available-free-transfer-summer.html

Yeah but that’s the thing, teams have to adapt to suit the players they have. If Dovin didn’t get injured I wouldn’t be advocating for changing anything but here we are. We can keep playing Collins for his ability to sweep up which costed us two goals and distribution which is the best imo at...

I’ve heard this but we’ve played with a lower line under Lampard at several points (not to mention Robins and Carr) think the lads could deal with the adjustment to a lower defensive line.

    Stop the clock

No I don’t think even if we win. People pay a lot these days to only have the game on for a 55 minutes is ridiculous. All for a bit of shithousery just think it’s a 90 minute game. It should be played for as close to 90 minutes as possible

    Stop the clock

Whether it’s this or something else. Something needs to change

    Lampard red card

Ref can pause time for stoppages though. Meaning for all the time wasting done yesterday we might of got closer to 90 even if no extra time was added

    Lampard red card

Can’t defend it. Abs joke to miss half a game and only have six minutes added on. Why hasn’t the rugby approach been taken to time stoppage

    Lampard red card

    One game for management

    Lampard red card

I somehow miss the 23/24 rules on time added on. Yes it added ridiculous time added on but thought it was a step in the right direction. Shame it seemingly got dropped
