    Running

I've a similar problem, but can't do any running at all. Mine is apparently caused by protrusions in my vertebrae (a sort of mini slipped disc) which impinges on the nerves. L4-5 is the worst and impinges all the time giving me sciatica but L2-3 can cause problems if I bend backwards.

    U18/U21 Development Thread

When will we know who's been taken on/released from the second years and the new intake from the U16's?

What Sporting Event Would You Choose ?

England in a WC final or Cov to win Prem/CL (well, any league or cup). Been to NFL and MLB games in US and they're rather tame affairs - so many fans aren't even paying attention - just eating and chatting. Having said that a SB just for the spectacle would be nice. An Ashes test at Lord's or...

    Goalkeepers

In terms of goalkeeping ability I think the standard has dropped immensely, esp at top teams as due to the amount of possession they have they don't expect keepers to have much to do and concentrate far more on their ability regards distribution with a bit of shot stopping thrown in. I look at...

    Willis to Luton?

If he leaves he's well within his rights to and I bear no animosity to him for doing so if he's playing at a higher level on a higher wage. He's been here a good while and done his best and played out of position and through injury at times. For him it's probably now or never given his age and...

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

Probably due to the uncertainty over the stadium - could have a massive impact on transfers/budget.

    Bayliss

Bayliss has been a bit disappointing this season more due to expectation than performance (you wouldn't ordinarily expect that much of a 19yo) but given his age and the amount of football he's played I think he needed the rest and the injury may be useful long term. He's made some poor decisions...

Will it be harder than first thought next season?

Far too early to say at the moment - no idea who's staying/going (though large nucleus of the current squad should remain) or even where we'll be playing which will make a massive difference to budget and who would be willing to stay/join. Certainly don't think it's a given we'll be fighting...

Match Thread Doncaster Rovers vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 4th May

Not been on for over a month as been busy. As for game - with nothing now to play for MR should be focused on 2 things: 1. Next season 2. Using the rare opportunity to give youngsters a bit of matchday experience Don't care about league fairness etc - we do what's best for us and that is now...

Do people really think we are Brummies?

Think it depends how far away you go. No-one from the Midlands has ever mistaken me for a Brummie, but I have had someone from Newcastle area and from Ireland and Scotland ask, although one of those did say 'Midlands' rather than Birmingham. In America they thought I was Canadian - I think they...

    Football fans - criminal offence

Yeah, it is a bit strange. I've no problem whatsoever with the law on going on the pitch etc as long as it's applied uniformly across all sports. I do think there is a tendency for middle-class and above to have this cultural stereotype of football fans as uneducated mindless hooligans. You can...

    Bakayoko/Chaplin

I agree entirely. Getting the ball and just instantly running with it is mindless. Exciting, but mindless. I don't mind slowing play down when there's no support, but at times it feels like the quick attack is on and he slows it down for the sake of it or to do some 'tekkers'/showboating...

    Bakayoko/Chaplin

I'm not sure the level of service has improved necessarily. Bright can be infuriating at times in slowing play down and holding onto the ball (but can look amazing at times as well), Bayliss has been similar all season in moments of brilliance interspersed with running down cul-de-sacs and...

    Bakayoko/Chaplin

I agree to an extent and given the choice instinct would make me play the big guy over the small one as a lone front man, but I guess it also depends on how you provide for them. If you want to have the ball held up and wait for the midfield to support - big man no question. But if you can find...

    Bakayoko/Chaplin

As I've said elsewhere I think we've come across this system that's working reasonably well (though still needs to be more prolific in front of goal) and Baka/Hiwula (along with Bright and Thomas, and to a lesser extent Bayliss) is the best combo we've come across this season. Maybe Chaplin has...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Oxford United Match Thread - Saturday 23rd Mar

Likely unchanged bar injuries, but I'd have Brown in for Mason. If Thomas isn't fit I can see why people would like to see Wakefield - like-for-like replacement, we're at home and in a good run of form so probably not going to get a better opportunity to give him a go. It is a bit risky and MR...

    I'll say it

I'm still not entirely sure who has what say on signings. Quite a few of the younger signings MR has intimated that they've been identified by the development team rather than him. I'd hope he'd have final veto on signings but you never know. Certainly when Hiwula and Bakayoko signed MR seemed...

    I'll say it

Possibly - he would've fitted in on the right wing when we changed to more 4-4-2 and you would hope his attacking threat would've outdone the lack of defensive cover he'd have provided. Andreu's was more important because he didn't fit into a four in midfield and MR seemed insistent on using...

    U18/U21 Development Thread

George Hunt been loaned out to Hounslow according to MAD. As he's coming to the end of his apprenticeship is this an indication he's being released and attempting to help him find a club?
  20. Sky_Blue_Dreamer

    I'll say it

I largely agree with you apart from the bit in bold. I think it was more BECAUSE rather than in spite of that that we improved and pushed on. Had Jones and Andreu not got injured I'm not sure MR would've altered the system/personnel which gave Bayliss his opportunity and helped McNulty show his...
