They should have compromised when you were encouraging them not to. No deal gets reached whilst one side thinks they hold all the aces and refuses to budge. The other side just tries harder to fund an ace of their own.

They dispute not in order to find or even to seek Truth, but for victory, and to appear the more learned and strenuous upholders of a contrary opinion. Such persons should be avoided by all who have not a good breastplate of patience.

Common sense, it is decisions like that, that give you a little insight into the thought processes that have led us to where we are today. Knee jerk ill informed reactionary comments and decisions.
