The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

When things like this are presented as the benefits of Brexit I find it quite concerning. Its the same as when signing a continuation agreement, ie: continuing to have the same terms we had as an EU member, is flagged as a success for the government. Are the expectations for Brexit now so low...

Think the issue is more how the data is presented. We know that a lot of people don't look any further than soundbites and we live in a world where things are reported on instantly. So when you have Johnson opening the briefing with: That's immediately all over social media and being reported...

Does the mortality rate for non-covid respitory deaths go up in the winter? Have that got data that compares mortality for recent weeks between those with the existing variant and those with the new variant?

This isn't very clear at all, and then they wonder why people don't understand the information they are given! Johnson comes out and says the new variant is linked to higher mortality followed by Vallance saying the data they have from hospitals is that the mortality is the same. There is other...

The latest ONS stats have the percentage of new variant cases dropping fairly significantly in London and the south east and nothing like the surge in other areas that we saw in London despite it now being all round the country. That's unexpected isn't it? Even if the number of cases overall...

Not the most exciting first day of a test ever. Pretty even so far. In other news Warwick have appointed a new head coach. https://edgbaston.com/news/world-cup-winner-robinson-appointed-as-warwickshires-mens-first-team-coach/

Its hard to believe the stupidity of some people. And in a case like this you're not talking about an individual. You've got someone organising it, a venue agreeing to it & allowing measures such as covering the windows so they clearly knew it was wrong and then hundreds of people attending. Its...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Good to have some positive news, although not entirely sure how its a result of Brexit. Doesn't that just mean those in the UK have to do the same as those in the EU? Or does he mean an advantage compared to crashing out with no deal. Either way nice to have some good news for a change.

Glasto is June and you'd think the majority of the crowd would be in groups not covered but the first round of vaccinations. Would you really risk putting 200K people, mostly unvaccinated, in a field for a week in pretty unhygienic conditions? Seems a big risk to take. Doesn't mean you won't...

Its not so much a case of what things will be like in the summer as the uncertainly. The costs of putting on a festival don't start the day they open the gates or even the day they start putting the bill together. You're looking at paying out a lot of money upfront for an event that may not...

There's been a few of these. I just don't get it, are they giving that as a BS excuse to cover something else? Surely nobody in their right mind does that even when there's not a pandemic, I'll thing about getting a Nando's and not bother as its too much hassle to go and pick up and that's 5...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Did laugh that his suggestion that parents report schools if they aren't happy with the remote learning provision, despite schools being given zero time to prepare, has resulted in Ofsted recieving 260 complaints compared to 13,000 parents contact them to praise schools. See we're back to...

Didn't know there was an online system to be honest, the info I've seen from both mine and my parents doctors has been you need to phone to book. Saying that surely its not that difficult to run a check. Just get people to stick their NHS number in.

Don't think we'll do an overnight open everything up but I agree that once you've done the top 9 groups we'll see things pretty rapidly opening. If they start opening things up and there's not a jump in cases then they can really speed up getting back to normal.
