The greatest singers of all time....

Tom Waits Agree re Liz Fraser & Billie Holliday & wouldn't have thought of Eddie Veder but it's a good call Mozza Thom Yorke Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart) Bjork and a odd one - many years ago I saw a Brummie band called the Mood Elevators. The singer-drummer was a very slight girl who was...

    Where will we finish?

16th. Results pick up during autumn and towards Christmas; everyone gets excited and then we don't win again until March.

Shoreditch is a good call if you like Indian food. Brick Lane is full of Inidan restaurants and close to Rough Trade records!

I don't even believe that the extra money in the Premiership will affect L1 clubs at all. L1 teams still have no money and the power that the Premiership has to take whomever they wish for whatever cost hasn't changed. The dynamic will be the same.

I suspect that this is related to self-assessment. Loads of jobs went in the gas and electricity utilities too when they introduced 'read your own meter'

... In the meantime, this government is doing more than any in recent memory to crack down on aggressive tax avoidance. Tackling big business needs to be a global issue but we can do something with individuals. HMRC has recently published a paper "Strengthening Tax Avoidance Sanctions and...

I agree. They are abusing their position. Eire isn't the problem; in many ways countries are the victims and they are scrabbling around just trying to do what they can for their own people. There is a culture issue within big business IMO, also having worked for several. Where bullying...

Well if greed means wanting more then sure, it's greed, However the Irish economy has been in trouble in recent years and they probably believe they need it. I'm sorry for being curt - I'd had a drink. It's just that I get peeved with cynicism without thinking through the situation. From...

I said that I agreed that it's wrong but that isn't the reason they are appealing. There is a huge benefit for a country to offer sweetheart deals to large companies with a return of lots of jobs and tax (yes - although the tax is much less than standard they benefit from having all/most of...

Do you really not know why or do you just like being negative? I don't agree with it either but at least let's have an intelligent conversation on the issues.

He's still going too, up to a point. I saw him a couple of years ago. He released several very good solo albums and then had kids and packed up. He did an acoustic set on tour about 5 years ago. What about Prefab Sprout? Paddy McAloon also did some solo albums but I didn't like them. He...

TM said 'CCFC squad it will get stronger in the next few days '

Obviously I know very little about football management. However if I were the manager I'd start working on getting good results before the transfer window closes. Perhaps we need a manageress who can multi-task.

There's a new book by the Nobel left wing economist Joseph Stiglitz which condemns EMU. I haven't read it - just this review; however it is so much aligned with my thinking on the subject that I thought I'd share...
