EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Exactly, 5 clubs are potentially 1 win away from a single auto slot, that changes the odds slightly.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I still think that some clubs will be saying one thing to the general public, but may vote a different way. It's all about PR. Will we ever find out which way every team voted? and even if we do, they can just say something like, after careful consideration we voted to save other clubs from...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

What the EFL haven't said, AFAIK is what penalty will be applied if a team can't complete some or all of their fixtures, assuming a vote for the season to continue. There could well be circumstances where teams will go into administration or even be unable to complete their fixtures in the...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Would Oxford really want to gamble on making top 2 as opposed to a guaranteed play off spot? Bristol Rovers have nothing to gain by completing the season, and may even get sucked into the relegation scrap

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

So at the moment the Championship has started testing today, with the intention of resumption on 20th June. If the vote goes the way of restarting, I would guess L1 would be up to 2 weeks behind that date by the time it is voted on, and testing could be arranged, and results returned. So...

Outside the box idea to settle League 1

I think something like this would possibly come the nearest to being acceptable to every team.

Which is why I think it won't happen

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Very true, we are easily the best all round team in this division, personally I think if we had to finish the season we would just extend our lead at the top. Best Manager, best defence, as good a midfield as anyone in this league, good enough attacking options. Even if we lost our loan players...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

That's true but at least there is some justification / precident for those two options. Any other option is likely lead to threats from some quarter or other.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

It is becoming clear (to me anyway) that the EFL has 2 options (assuming they don't go for null & void). Finish the season when it is safe to do so End now with standard promotion / playoffs / relegation based on PPG Anything else just isn't going to work. Teams should be given those 2 choices...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

No way will they vote to resume BCD. From BBC Sport Brewers chairman Ben Robinson indicated the financial impact of the coronavirus crisis had played a part in Clough leaving. "Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic is having a dramatic impact on all football clubs, meaning we have to make...

It's actually a 9 game season for everyone else in contention except for us & Wycombe

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Yes I would happliy take PPG but I'm confident we would do it the right way if it came to it, and silence all those other team supporters who would forever bring it up. 7 points advantage with a game in hand, 2 over Sunderland. 3 defeats all season. Playing on wouldn't worry me at all.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

What?? I would have no problem in completing the games, but going into a playoff group would be totally unfair. To be honest if we failed to get promotion from our position if we resumed, then we wouldn't deserve to go up. Don't forget if we do get promoted, next season will be a lot harder than...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Published by the Telegraph which in the past week has written editorials containing such statements as Coventry are top with 34 points, and Rotherham are currently 11th in the league.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I get the feeling Wycombe are not that bothered, going on Ainsworth's comments and the fact that they are not included in the "magic 6". It seems more important to them that they survive financially. It's a shame we can't play our game in hand against them, even if we lose it, it won't make any...
