Labour party is in a mess, no doubt about it. The identity politics is eating them alive by descending into vicious in fighting. No obvious solution and still some way to fall I think. Maybe attempting to unite people will never be popular again. The winners are the Tories who are brilliant at...

    End of Woke News?

You're right, of course, but unfortunately that's not how human psychology works. If we like someone we give them the benefit of the doubt. We overlook flaws and the reverse is true of those we dislike. To change would be to admit we are poor judges of character - which is too much of a stretch...

    End of Woke News?

Interesting. Personally never watch news in the morning. I check my phone first thing and family or friends sometimes send me links to stories in the news that I have seen already before bed. I go to sleep around 1am and can't recall any news story that happened overnight barring election nights...

    End of Woke News?

If that's accurate it's interesting that more people watch morning news than evening news. What exactly do they imagine has happened during the night? Perhaps they are more interested in overseas stories? Is this why morning news discussion points are dominated by opinions and what's in the papers?

The gas lighting is now endemic. Nothing to see here. We are delivering on the priorities of the British people, Brexit, Vaccines, world beating yada yada, jibber jabber. Labour would be worse. Look over there - dinghies, illegals, woke, statues being attacked. So depressing.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

If a married tory minister was caught dogging with a woman who was in government employ and it emerged that he was giving lucrative contracts to her brother? I'm guessing he'd only be in trouble if he was parked on a double yellow line. That's how far standards in public life have sunk.

Don't forget Cleopatra. Didn't do her reputation any harm. If Hancock was a woman he'd be gone. A cheat is a cheat. It does affect their public role. If you'd cheat on your wife and kids you would cheat in other ways too. However, those of us with a moral compass are seemingly now in a...

I see no reason for him to resign or be sacked. He has been a perfect embodiment of the Tory brand which had a stonking majority only 18 months ago ... so it's what the great British public want. There is no point him going unless they all go and that's not happening thus nothing can be gained...

    21/22 Summer transfer mega-thread

Fuss made over phones, cars etc. It either works well or it doesn't. Don't blind me with science. Looked at a new laptop in John Lewis. I might just be the stereotypical girlie and select by colour. It seems as good a method as any. Life's too short for all the BS.

Once Scotland's number 2 got booked for fouling Grealish the priority should have been for G to receive the ball on the edge of their box and run at him.

    European championships 2020 thread

I think Southgate calculated that a high intensity game was too unpredictable. He feared a bad injury, sending off or soft penalty against. You could say he bottled it. You could say he took the low road to getting out of the group unscathed.

No intensity or real attempt to win the game. Too cautious and timid. Southgate was happy to take a point and instilled a negative mindset in his players. He wants to progress by low risk approaches to games.

Build back in a gender neutral more feminine way

Tory women only get to the top by not challenging patriarchal attitudes. The 2 PMs + Patel believed that the system is meritocratic so do nothing to help other women. If any of them behaved like BoJo they wouldn't have even got a candidacy for MP. Can you imagine Thatcher or May - sacked for...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Heard an interview with someone who had worked with Johnson before he was even London mayor. This person said Johnson hates making decisions and his modus operandi is to wait as long as possible until his options are reduced to 2 or 3 then he jumps. He is also hard to read as colleagues believe...

This will negate the 'child born out of wedlock' slur forever won't it? Age of consent is 16 so if a girl legally has sex, aged 16/17, and conceives, she cannot marry until 18. Thus rendering the child 'illegitimate'. Have they thought this through or does none of it matter any more?

    New supporters club near town?

Age related voting in action. Club's finest years (with teams which rarely feared relegation) were 60s and 70s but most fans think it was 80s and 90s. Although our 87 cup win was the greatest attainment it was an aberration, after 3 close escapes from relegation, in a period of slow but...
