You are correct it’s pretty rare, but not unheard of.

How much do you expect us to spend?

I understand your point but I’m not sure that’s how the football model works. You agree a playing budget for transfers and salaries. Sometimes it will be more economic to sign better quality free transfers on higher wages than to sign contracted players of the same quality with a fee. The key...

How much do you expect us to spend?

I’d expect us to get £17m for Vik and £8m for Hamer. I think they are both worth more but their contractual situation will dilute what clubs will pay and what we will accept, given the risk associated with them running the contracts down. I think Doug will make 50% available to MR and invest a...

Maybe it’s a done deal and the reason we are playing them in a pre season friendly

Conor Coady would be an incredible loan signing for the Championship. Unrealistic but I sense there will not be a large queue of Premier League clubs wanting him.

    Transfer Rumour Panzo coming back?

No he wasn’t. Which is why Burroughs, Kane, etc all got game time and then we brought BNC in during January.

    Transfer Rumour Panzo coming back?

He was blowing 5 mins after coming on at the weekend. He couldn’t track back.

    Doug King Interview

The 2 most important things that give me encouragement are the fact he has built his businesses on data / evidence based decisions and plans to with Coventry City and that hunkering down to manage your cost base isn’t a strategy that can work in a competitive league. both statements of the...

    Doug King Interview

If we get into the play offs 3 out of next 5 seasons we will mostly be watching winning football. We all want the Premier League but failing that then the next best thing is winning football player attractively.

    Doug King Interview

He said what you would expect him to say …. Parachute payments distort the league, we need more revenue to close the gap, we invested early in his tenure on recruitment and have a plan. For this window. He knows that the government white paper might accelerate the reduction in the financial gaps...

    Jay DaSilva Signs!

I understand the logic but I think you are over looking that JWE looked very suspect defending. Robins is pragmatic, if it’s a choice between being tighter at the back but less dynamic going forward, history shows he takes the defensive option first.

Day Trippers, Glory Hunters....isnt it getting a bit boring now?

Clubs grow by persuading none supporters to become occasional supporters and occasional supporters to become more committed supporters … every club is the same. Support is no longer measured by the number of matches you attend. It’s now about the value you bring to a club through merchandise...

Luton will be more likely to come for our best players than we will theirs …. That’s football economics for you

If we've got money to spend

We need to sell them because they won’t sign the contracts they have been offered and we cannot let them leave on a free to Europe in January.

I totally agree with you. I suspect the issue is that Kelly wants to play regularly and we can’t guarantee that and his injury track record is too poor to offer him anything other than a pay as you play bias package.
