We had no choice in the matter, take some comfort in that. We rejected Kevin Keegan for being too small and practically gave away Stuart Pearce. This episode is pretty insignificant and will soon be forgotten.
He most likely just needed a day or two to think it through, I would be surprised if he didn't do that.
Being from New Zealand, the UK is probably up there with the best destinations for him to live. The Kiwi's love it over here (for some reason)
Plus EMC, plus Sakamoto, that's already almost a third of a team compared to the players avalable in the last 10 games, and the window hasn't even opened yet. Seems to be building nicely IMO.
I used to wait outside the Telegraph office in Corporation Street when I couldn't get to away games, to get the Pink hot off the press. I'm sure I remember standing outside the office looking through the window when away evening games I couldn't get to were being played. I can't remember exactly...
I think it was similar when we sold Robbie Keane for something like £13M then went in for Hughes. Megson said they wanted £13M for Hughes, in the end I think we paid about £5M
We are bottom of the form table for last 6, taking 1 point. Preston next to bottom with 3, and Leeds above them with 4. West Brom have 7.
We were 3 wins short of going 6th on goal difference in the end. The cup run and the way it ended did us.
But we are not the only team to collapse in the run...
Attack wise, we have 2 proven 20 goal players, 2 wingers that should weigh in with double figures or close to it. It's just depth we are missing at the front, and sort out our midfield depending on who stays.
I genuinely think we are just an experienced (McFadz type) player short in defence. I would like to see a keeper upgrade as well but think Collins is OK most of the time.
The problem with Sakamoto is, his form dipped sharply following his treatment by the thugs at Norwich. Then with his current injury that's a lot to come back from, confidence wise. He's unlikely to repeat that run of form IMO.
Yes, at the .moment we have most of the world saying it was unfair on us, and man u are the bad guys. I think we should now be a bit sanguine about it, and rise above all the bitterness and arguing.
