If that's true it seems an even odder choice. Reserves for Man U or playing reserves in Scotland? Also if that were the case I can't imagine Rangers would be willing to pay him that much. Surely he's got to be going there with the desire for first team football at the age of 19?

Yeah, what I'm saying is that the clause should be automatically in that. You might get a tiny development fee that probably equates to a day's pay for one of the big club's players and that's it. There's far more potential in sell-on fees.

    21/22 Summer transfer mega-thread

It may not just be us. If the team they're coming from have a Covid outbreak as well he can't join in. Given the way things seem to be for an increasing number of squads it wouldn't surprise me if a quarantine period was put in. I think a possible reason for the spread could be that this time...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Donations will be decreasing. The party lost the last election massively and don't look like overcoming that. No-one pays for political influence if that influential is negligible. The way the party is coming across in the media isn't good (so warranted, some not) so general opinion of them if...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Depends on what those jobs being let go are. If you're earning a fair wage as an analyst/policy boff are you really going to want to become someone who sits on the phone all day listening to complaints? Would you want to take the wage cut, or would the company really want to pay you the same...

For me I'd forego a tiny development fee in exchange for a perpetual sell-on clause of 50%.

Find that a bit odd. Sure I heard Man U were offering him a new contract and supposedly the only reason he left here was because he was joining the club he had supported his entire life. Seems odd to now decide to leave Man U so soon, esp if they did want to keep him.

I think to be honest even at that stage he was highly regarded and expected to make a big breakthrough. I think she saw there was more chance of having a glamourous lifestyle with him that anyone else. Even at the very beginning she had the look of a typical 'WAG' and she very quickly settled...

While I agree with your overall point haven't you elsewhere been saying it's going to be nowhere near that figure, paid in installments and based heavily on add-ons. Yet now when it suits you you call it a seven-figure sum. At least be consistent.

And who those people in that area tend to follow will largely already have been decided long ago. If you move into the area and have no allegiance you'll likely end up following the one the locals do so you fit in and it can be a social occassion.

I'm not saying it is. Point being made was that people were saying how much other teams are charging compared to us. It's not massively relevant, esp to us with few rivals in the local area. For existing fans the only important thing is whether they're willing to pay what the club they support...

Again if we're talking youngsters those kids that have moved in will go to school and will be influenced by who they meet there and want to go to wherever they go to try and fit in.

Possibly, although I expect Jones is also being looked at for this position as we don't play with wingers.

If parents follow a team they'll take them to the team they support. They're aren't going to suddenly start going to a different team just because it's cheaper to take their kids. If parents aren't interested, a kids biggest influence will be who friends at school support and so they'll nag...

    Recruitment Model

Hyam was brought in as development. He got a chance in the first team and impressed so stayed there. Thing with the development model is we seem to have been trying to be a budget version of the big teams - bring in quite a few players for development and hope one or two of them progress. It...

I can't see him working as a lone striker either. Why is he not varying it up, giving each of them some game time as a lone striker and playing the other two as a pair to see what happens? But he isn't. So we haven't. It's just strange that Walker has always been the lone striker and...

I think the point is how much other teams charge is largely irrelevant. If Birmingham charged £10 compared to our £20-30 a Cov fan wouldn't go and watch Brum instead - they just wouldn't go to Cov games. Similarly if, say, Birmingham charged £60 a ticket but could fill the stadium it'd be...
