I think it’s pretty poor for a 10 to be honest. Palmer doesn’t offer too much defensively so his attacking contribution is really his main reason for being in the team.

They will have been talking to clubs for months now. The contract expiry date is little more than symbolic these days. Deals can be confirmed and announced ahead of the existing contract expiring but they can’t take effect until after it has expired.
