I think players like to have ‘brands’ these days and go for a more individual number. See Hamer with 38 and Palmer with 45, or higher up the pyramid, Trent Alexander-Arnold with 66 and Phil Foden with 47.

I’m willing to write any issues off these summer as teething issues for the new ownership and we’ll see how things are next year. The financial outlay on the playing staff is the most important thing and King has delivered big time.
