To be fair that must a great thing for a dad and lad to do; play together at a reasonably high level. I recall Baker being a proper family bloke and having some tragedy so this must be all the more special. Good thoughts to the Baker boys. Hope you have a great day.

The best team since prem relegation

That’s not to say that I don’t think O’Hare isn’t brilliant or Hamer for that matter. We’ve had some great players but the team never seemed to gel. The biggest difference for me is that if we concede our heads don’t drop like they used to and we fight till the end. That’s a great team.

David Thompson maybe. Gary McAllister might have been old but possibly up there.

Best players overall? - no. Best team? - I’d say yes.

    Squad Value

Some managers suit certain clubs and set ups. Robins bombed at Huddersfield and didn’t set the world on fire at Scunthorpe. He’s maybe older and wiser, maybe it’s the set up. My personal opinion is that Adi V needs signing up to a good deal. Can’t help but think that he is far more pivotal...

He’s 34 but was playing for Alfreton (not full time?) until 23 and in the conference with Crawley at aged 24. Players who become full time professionals late often play until older. Maybe it’s less strain on the joints during the younger years or maybe players who initially don’t make it...

    Squad Value

Just out of curiosity, what did the poster who tracked the real cost of SISU’s investment (OSB 58 was it?) calculate the figure to be? Not the figure which included paying GR back and huge management charges and interest; the real cash injected figure less cash taken out. Was it 18m? In...

    Bright and Robins

I guess it’s a choice with players who fall into this category. Strachan pulled Noel Whelan close in and we got some spells of good form and ultimately sold him on for a decent fee. Kevin Thornton, I thought, was a wasted talent that may, in another set up, have gone a different way. So, what...

    Was it a good window?

I think he did now you mention. We signed him as a player, he became manager and then retired, only for us to sack him and he have a full season or two at a good level back on the pitch. Bad business all round.

    Was it a good window?

I’ll stand by the Biamou opinion. In other news Jack Wiltshire couldn’t sign for Como is Serie B. Given that James was injury plagued and did well, is he, 29, with a punt? It has echoes of a Stewart Robson scenario for those old enough to remember

    Was it a good window?

Good post. I agree. Some good balance in the squad and some good players with experience at this level. At the start of last season we showed some inexperience in the shithousery department. Now a lot of our squad have got a year of Champ football under their belt. The only slight weakness is...

    Was it a good window?

Best squad addition: Moore Best signing: Gyo Biggest squad loss: Osti Missed opportunity?: James Most controversial: IMO Waghorn given his age, perceived wage, the strikers we have, lack of realistic sell on potential.

Can they go out to Scotland? (I genuinely don’t know the rules) That’s a good level for them.

    Was it a good window?

In Simon Moore - an improvement on post-injury Marosi and showing to be better than Wilson. Martyn Waghorn - not sure if he’s better or better value than Biamou. I’m not convinced that this is a great signing. I’d have rather put the wage budget at trying to get Osti back or James in...

    Robins on Gyokeres

Biamou had far more physical presence IMO than Walker / Godden and put himself about more and led the line. You may disagree, that’s your opinion.

    Robins on Gyokeres

Getting bored now. I questioned bringing in Waghorn for Biamou when we have players who can play the role. Baka’s wage could go on a 21 year old who has an outside chance of doing someone because of his unusual height if nothing else. Besides, we leave one up top for defending corners and set...

    Robins on Gyokeres

Not been paying attention. I’ve questioned bringing in Waghorn, 31, no resale value, when we’ve got Walker, Godden, Bright, etc. and letting Biamou go when we’ve got no other player with any physical aerial presence. Hope Gyo doesn’t get injured.
