I was a little nipper when these decisions were taken, so thanks for the clarification. Admittedly, I thought your point was regarding relegation from Championship to League 1.

Don't really understand how this works, so would appreciate it if you could clear this up. For the benefit of the forum too!

I suppose our situations were quite similar in the Championship, but they ended up with a philanthropic, multi-millionaire owner, and we ended up with a hedge fund. In hindsight, the club needed to cut costs because we weren't sustainable and this is inevitably unpopular because...

    Gustavo Hamer - CONFIRMED

I know he was born in Brazil, but if he’s spent a lot of in The Netherlands, there’s a good chance he already knows English. The Dutch speak English v well and the articles suggest it’s been a career goal of Hamer’s to play in England. Hoping he’s done the work already!

    When does next season start?

I wouldn’t estimate the value of having a long lay off. Your point made me think of something I hadn’t considered: how long of a break will the teams get between the end of this season and the end of next? The lack of a good break could seriously impact teams with injuries, fatigue and so on.

Shame, was hoping to vote Biamou for his winner v Bolton...

It is different, but Jodi Jones used to play as a 10 as a youth, if I recall correctly. The system we play could be adapted to incorporate either 1 or 2 wingers in the two behind the striker. It will benefit us having added pace, and that role is pretty ideal for wingers as their defensive...

    Best Championship Games

For me, the 1-0 win over Wolves was a great game. Topped off with a last minute penalty save! Although we lost, losing 4-2 against Southampton (relegation year) was an entertaining game.

    Gustavo Hamer - CONFIRMED

I’ll be honest here, I thought Kastaneer was going to be a v good signing. Judging from the various comments about him from @better days - he just didn’t seem apply himself at all. (Please correct me if that’s not an unfair characterisation) I only asked the latter friend in September when I...

    Gustavo Hamer - CONFIRMED

He was with the team that came bottom in Eredivise. A weird coincidence I had: Shortly after we signed him, I was in an Uber on my way home from work and the driver happened to be a Breda fan, I asked about Kastaneer and he responded negatively. I also have an old Uni mate who supports...

    Gustavo Hamer - CONFIRMED

The Eredivisie has some good teams in it. Plenty of players have shown themselves capable of making the transition from Dutch football to English football. Very much a focusing on the Prem, but you’ve got RVP, Suarez, Erikson, Kuyt, Wjinaldum and so on. That said, Kastaneer was playing in the...

    Gustavo Hamer - CONFIRMED

On the surface, this could like a seriously good signing.

Robins seems to see something in him, and is obviously hedging his bets on unlocking his potential. I’m not going to read too much into this, but he performed quite well v Birmingham (A), so he may be of use to us. Final point, we need a bigger squad in the Championship, and having Baka as a...

    SBT player of the season

I voted for Godden. He scored some massive goals for us against the best teams in our league: Sunderland, Wycombe, Ipswich, Pompey, Rotherham. These goals were vital in driving us up the table the way we did. It’s a cliche, but the whole team deserves credit. I could’ve easily went for Marosi...

    Budget

The point was that he’s played the majority of his football in the Netherlands. It also didn’t stop a few people questioning the standard of the Dutch second division at the time (also, the unfavourable reviews compared to Dujon Sterling).

    Adi Viveash

Adi Viveash was at Chelsea when Conte was manager, playing 3-4-3. Robins has been a 4-2-3-1 / 4-4-2 man his entire career. Robins clearly trusts his old team mate. The role of an assistant manager’s role isn’t to be a ‘yes man’, but to advise and challenge the manager constructively. Two...

    Budget

We don’t really have a lot to compare, to be frank. Jobello was pretty important to the team before his season was ended in October. As for Kastaneer, great goal v Bristol Rovers, that’s about it. Before Cov, Dabo’s career was played mainly in Holland and he was a brilliant signing. That’s all...

    Budget

Judging from the kind of players we've been linked with, I suspect we're going to attempt to bring in high quality, foreign imports who go at a lower rate than talent in the EFL. I trust the recruitment team to be able to work around with a less competitive budget. I get the impression that...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Which is strange because we’re pretty good on FM20. The AI got us promoted twice, albeit via the playoffs.

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

I don’t know the numbers behind those numbers, but I’d say that estimate is assuming ticket sales. The problem with that, for a club like Pompey (and more across the league), is that we’re not going to playing in front of 10-20k fans per week. It’s not safe to do so. Financially, this is going...
