    General Election 2019 thread

Does get a fair bit of stick, some of it is warranted....the gold sell off, his battle for leadership with Blair and not ending boom and bust (as promised) - guess that’s why he spent all the cash available. Always thought he was just the wrong type of person to be a leader but felt he was a...

    'Fan's Favourite' XI

Tony Sheridan - what a player he could’ve been...but never was Robert Rosario (for his spell in midfield - feels bizarre writing that even now) Chris Marsden Lloyd McGrath - won the cup so maybe shouldn’t be on the list

    General Election 2019 thread

Think grendel, sick boy and Ian might be right....another hung parliament although the opinion polls are suggesting a decent tory lead I’m not sure that will convert into seats. big gamble by Johnson and pretty sick of elections, but weighing everything up probably needed to happen (no...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Interesting stuff Fernando, I hope you never have to soften those type of criteria ! (they’re essential I’d say !) Price criteria is rather important when we/government is paying though so a government giving this control away would be bizarre. Stand to be corrected in future though

disagree mate. As I say, other parties are trying to move away from the status quo to benefit themselves. Never even heard of MPs trying to amend who can vote right before an election

    General Election 2019 thread

It’s an election that rightly or wrongly will be about Brexit, why would you change the rules to allow millions of people to vote against you ? He’s not changing the status quo ! If he was saying all over 60s get two votes each Id understand your point shmmeee ! Agree WAB should’ve been...

Johnson’s said NHS is not on the table (link on other thread) If it’s a case of US companies having the ability to supply the NHS, I’ve got not issue, as long as it’s competitive tendering/procurement process. If it’s a move towards their insurance based system I’d be totally against (but can’t...

Not really, it’s the other parties looking to move goalposts to benefit themselves. Why would you allow that as government proposing bill ? Would be crazy

Depends what the trade surplus/deficit is (also if the trade partner is a major competitor in certain industries)...amongst various other considerations If a country is keen to export more to us, why wouldn’t they agree a free trade deal Addressed the US - NHS on other thread. Might be...

    General Election 2019 thread

Hard to evidence my position as it’s not even up for discussion. Johnson was quoted saying the NHS wouldn’t be on the table in any deal with US though. Boris Johnson to tell Trump NHS is 'off the table' in post-Brexit trade deal What we are talking about here though is changing the whole...

Nonsense Clint. We won’t ever move to a US model, the country would never accept it. I usually take on board what you say on various threads but this is just scaremongering

    General Election 2019 thread

Wonder if labour will regret not voting for the bill last night. If the WAB was debated and passed pre election then they could’ve moved the debate onto domestic policies/issues (to some extent) and burst the Lib Dem/Brexit party bubble a little however painful, an election needs to happen as...

I was saying how they were going to pitch it. Doesn’t sound as good... ‘Get Brexit to the next stage’ to be fair !

Kind of what I was saying above. I’d have done it differently (at least try to get WAB vote pre election break up - let opposition vote against)

I know, I checked the days expecting they’d be Friday v following Monday. It’s been the only reasoning I’ve heard for the three days difference though. V strange I agree
