    Hamer

Hamer was very classy and most importantly, showed a lot of leadership yesterday, which is great in Kelly’s absence. Silly yellow yesterday, which put the spotlight on him in the ref’s eyes. But, he’s tenacious and he adds steel and creativity in our midfield. As for Sheaf, he’s going to be a...

    How many points for safety?

Today was definitely encouraging and it's a small consolation the Bristol fans acknowledge we were the better side. We lost today because we were naive. The first goal we concede was very poor from the off and we've let a man get free from a set piece. This season, I can accept losing from...

    Shipley

He knew he botched the chance COH set him up with. His goal was good so I’m not going to complain too much! Tyler Walker and Gooden linked up quite well in the end. Our midfield just ran out of legs and we lost our two most influential midfield players on the day.

    Shipley

We were good at defending set-pieces last season. If we continue to concede soft goals from set-pieces, we’ll review it down the line. Don’t get me wrong, I am surprised we didn’t pick up that they had a centre back, and probably one of their best headers at the far post.

    Shipley

I’m sure you could put your managerial credentials to test in the real world - maybe you take us to the Champions League glory! Football Manager nor FIFA count by the way!

    Shipley

They may have to change zonal marking if it becomes a problem, but our set piece defending wasn’t an issue last season. There’s a reason zonal marking is popular - we just didn’t execute on that set play.

    Shipley

You see Hyam pinch in to deal with the perceived threat of the play in the middle, only for the ball to sail over and hit Kalas, who Shipley was left to deal with. Shipley wasn’t in a position to deal with the threat at all. It’s a team failure - solely blaming Shipley isn’t fair.

DaCosta is the back up for Dabo. I thought Pask did well in parts, but he’s very much a packet CB playing RWB at the minute. I don’t mean that in a mean-spirited way.

I thought CWR said something about his knee? To which my immediate thought was not another ACL!

    What the fuck

It’s a valid point to make. Equally, I do believe the law does draw boundaries quite well, generally speaking. This last paragraph is something I said early on. The ‘left’ has weaponised ‘fascist’, ‘racist’, ‘homophobe’, ‘sexist’ and so on in the same way the right tagged anyone they didn’t...

I think tiredness played a role there for Shipley - he usually lasts around 60 minutes. But, we were losing a grip on midfield before Allen came off. Losing both Hamer AND Kelly in the same game was tough for us and we lacked organisation and tightness in central midfield. It’s a tough one for...

Overall, a loss is harsh on us. But, if you give away a poor goal from kickoff and a soft corner kick, you get what you deserve in this league. Some positives to take from the game, so I’m not concerned based on this first performance.

In my view, he looks a bit all over the place slightly deeper than the ACM role he flourished in last season. Needs a bit more coaching positionally and defensively - that’s not an unfair observation. Hamer comes across as a bit of leader too, and we’ve definitely lost that since both Kelly and...

Sheaf has been fine. I do think we need one of Kelly or Hamer in that DM role because we look more solid defensively. Shipley needs to work on being more aggressive in that role. Doesn’t help that we brought Allen off so we have one less midfielder - but the battle was already being lost when...

Few nice touches from Sheaf, good first impression. Walker on for Allen is a good move, let’s us chase the 3 points.

It was probably a tactical foul to stop the break. The camera angle is a bit restrictive, some accurate passes look like they’re going to no one.

We always thought that about Doyle, and he never got a red for us, iirc. Had a quick skim, and it appears that Hamer is yet to have a career red card - last season he got 8 yellow cards.

I just want to point out how refreshing it is to be a threat from set pieces. The last two games we’ve created at least 4 good quality chances. Hamer is definitely looking like a bargain already.
