Agree, no ssue with them being open, but people need to adhere to the social distancing as much as possible (and stores should also be trying to enforce it, like the supermarkets are now doing)

In terms of trying to return the country to some form of normality a reliable antibody test will be massive, as I think will be the NHS app if they can get it up and running (issues with Apple/android around data protection) - which can automatically notify you if you’ve been around someone...

Idiots - both Five Guys (obviously no attempt to get people to social distance) and the people in the queue !

Not really, or not yet anyway, unless the virus disappears or until a vaccine has found. If a country has locked down sooner/better then their infections and deaths will of course be a lot less at the moment. However, assuming (and it’s still a big assumption) that (a large majority of) people...

It’s fascinating isn’t it. I think I read that smokers are less likely to get it but if they do are at a higher risk. Might be wrong though

As I say above I’m not supporting their strategy but the death rates are a strange one until you know how many in the population has it/has had it. Even the best testing (major) nations haven’t really got a clue, only estimates from some relatively low number antibody sampling If for example...

I think Sweden is taking a huge risk but it’s up to each country to try to manage the disease as best they can. If they can allow it to spread without breaching their health service capacity then who’s to say that ultimately that might not be the best decision in the long run. The problem I can...

Details of travel plans (contact details etc) I 100% agree with for tracking/tracing. Our border controls are shit, always have been, probably always will be !

Agree Ian. I can’t see international travel getting fully back to normal until much later this year at the earliest anyway. It surely should be in our thinking when agreeing exit from lockdown strategy (no point us getting it under control and allowing travellers from high risk areas in)...

It was a fuck up but as far as I’m aware hasn’t made any difference yet (I read earlier than none of the schemes previous order has been delivered yet). I reckon we expected to have sorted their own supply chains by now but they’re still not secure/certain (as everyone’s fighting over the same...

It’s a fair point Sick Boy and the US banned flights from China on 3 or 4 Feb (think we only banned flights from Wuhan), however, I’m not convinced it did either country much good as by then the virus was already in the respective countries Hindsight’s a great thing but in reality from what I...

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Two mates 50ths so a group of us were going for a short trip. Gutted but as we were heading to New York possibly for the best ! ps for all it’s issues I still love going to America (it is a fucked up place though !)

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Depends on the restrictions nearer the time Clint. I was due out there last week and they didn’t formally cancel the flight until a couple of weeks before when they extended restrictions. Would be surprised if travel is normal by then but who knows with Trump ?! ps wouldn’t be surprised if he...

very strange that some are taking so long to be reported and then get added on in quite large chunks. I don’t think the daily deaths should be that high, I’d hope that today was more of an anomaly due weekend catch up and a significant number of historical/backdated additions. Could be wrong...

Every daily announced figure include deaths from days, sometimes weeks ago. I’m not sure of why there was such a backlog coming into today’s figures but it definitely would’ve been partially caused by ‘the weekend factor’

[ As I mentioned yesterday though Pete the deaths happening on an actual day appear to be gradually decreasing and have been (at least in England) for a couple of weeks. Appreciate its little comfort but whilst the headline daily numbers are jumping around actual deaths per day are trending...

Statistics » COVID-19 Daily Deaths They update daily and have now added the chart which is useful. They are still adding deaths from a few days ago each day (which add up to the total which is formally announced each day) but these gradually peter out
