Which Of Our Players Are Not Good Enough For League 1?

Both keepers are ok for back-up, but not a 46 game season. Sterry is ok, but that's it. Maybe carve a career out at this level in a year or two. Willis = L1 standard (possibly better) Turnbull = has potential, but I'm not sure what tp make of him. Stokes = Clearly able at this level Bigi = L1...

    The ideal new manager...

As much as the managerial merry-go-round sucks, right now I'd be happy with a been-there-got-the-T-shirt kind of manager. Yes, the same old names appear all over the leagues, but that isn't a bad thing for a club in our state. A Gary Johnson / Phil Brown type, who knows his stuff. Not exciting...

    The ideal new manager...

His stock is too high, as seen by the general shock at his dismissal. A struggling Championship club will snap him up in a few weeks.

    Gary Caldwell

Gary Caldwell? Is that what we're left with? I'd rather have Gary McAllister back than him, and he was, if you'll excuse my French, fucking shit.

    The Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Thread!

That was my first thought tbh. Unless the new owners have hinted that he's the man they like.

    The Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink Thread!

Personally, I'd rather have a manager who has a shit-ton of L1 experience; we need someone that knows how to survive in this division - the type of players who thrive at this blood and thunder level. That's not to say JFH doesn't have that knowledge, but his CV doesn't suggest that's the case...

Match Thread Southend v Coventry Match Thread - Saturday 10th Dec

I think I now officially hate football. All the enjoyment has been sucked out of it over the last fifteen years, but now it's just a chore. If it wasn't for this forum, I'd have probably given it all up a while back.

    Investment on the Horizon?

If there is any truth to this, then I wonder why the CET haven't done a story yet. surely this is what 'their' campaign has been hoping for?

    Investment on the Horizon?

Look, we all know it'll go wrong. It's what happens to us. We're perpetual losers. Just accept it and look foward to the League Two tour, ok?

    STOP. GIVING. ME. HOPE. Bastard.

    Set Pieces.

Cedric Roussel was decent in the air iirc. Other than that, I'm struggling to name anyone.

    Investment on the Horizon?

It was a certain goalkeeper's best mate: he admitted who he was, then edited the post about 30 seconds later. Unluckily for him, I was quick on the draw and read it before it changed.

    Terrible decision from Venus

Re: TM talking about physicality. I have to be honest, I was / still am a fan of TM. However, he did state for at least two transfer windows that we were weak physically. He should have done something about that. Maybe if he had, he'd still be here. MV is doing mini miracles at the moment, but I...

    Chesterfield Crowd

I'm amazed how many people attend matches and have no idea who half of the players on our own team are, let alone the opposition. Genuinely confuses me. Even as a kid I could name the starting XI of most teams in the top two divisions, and most of those lower down. Although that was probably...

Match Thread Coventry v Chesterfld Match Thread - Tuesday 1st Nov

Can't see anything other than a dull 0-0. We average less than a goal a game, so it makes sense from that point of view, plus they aren't pulling up any trees.

Gary McAllister Player of the year Trophy 1999/2000

Nice bit of history, but 140 quid is a bit steep. Knock it down to 40 quid and you might get a few takers. Football memorabilia is a big industry, but you have to have the right club to make the big cash money.

    Observation!

Is it Wasps fault we're in this mess? No. Does their presence help us? No. Would CCFC have more options if Wasps left? Yes. I don't think many people actively blame Wasps for our plight, but they do harbour resentment that they seem to have waltzed in and become the darlings of the council...

karl Robinson Could Be A Manager Choice

Does seem a really harsh decision. He took them to a level they had never seen before (in the MK incarnation) and clearly did a solid job. A few iffy results and that's it. Everything he worked so hard to achieve is just forgotten. The world of football is truly insane.

Match Thread Coventry v Rochdale Match Thread - Saturday 22nd Oct

If we win, Rochdale will be in 9th, despite having lost 1 more than us. Perhaps we're not that bad after all.
