Even look at back 4, only Walker is a starter for their club. Stone, Maguire and Shaw are not currently first choices. We overrate our team a bit. France and ourselves are very even as a team. In a combined XI, how many players would actually start? Then account for Benzema, Pogba and Kante...

France also has a far better team than us throughout the same period. We should’ve won in Euro 2020 and should have won last night. Lowe was given time after going close with Germany.

    Qatar World Cup 2022

France were the favourites and they won. Why the hysteria? The FFF didn’t panic and sack Deschamps after Euro 2020. Overall, I thought we played well yesterday and were the better team. You’d bank on Kane scoring that penalty and I think with our depth, we’d win the game in extra time...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

Our players don’t have exotic names you see… Spain looked very impressive v Costa Rica and attracted a lot hype. Their forward 3 always lacked that clinical edge so I’m not surprised they had goal scoring struggles. However, I did not expect upsets v Japan and Morocco. I’d have backed us to...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

Where did you get 3 goals from? Why are people so scared of France? They’re not the team they were in 2018 and have looked vulnerable in defence against v average opposition. It’s a very tough test, but I think we’ll win 2-1 and our substitutes will change the game for us.

I really don’t think Senegal’s chances were that clear cut. Better opposition would likely have converted one of the chances they created. The best chance of the half was Kane’s goal. The pressure we invited on ourselves wasn’t really down to tactical mistakes from the manager. Maguire, Stones...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

We won 3-0 and all of Southgate’s selection calls that were ‘questionable’ were vindicated. Henderson scored, Kane scored and Saka too. The midfield 3 unit worked very well with Henderson and Rice giving Bellingham the licence to put in the performance he did. Kane looked very good despite...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

Which is why playing Henderson could make a lot of sense. Let Rice and Bellingham support the front three more. Really hope Foden has a good game presuming the reports he’s going to start are correct. Like Mount, he’s not really had a stand out game at international level against good...

    England WC 2022

He performs well for England mostly, has tournament experience that our alternative just do not have and finally, as we saw yesterday, is a weapon from set-pieces. I like White, Gomez and Tomori, but they’re not better than Maguire when he’s on form.

    England WC 2022

There’s been a lot of upheaval in the Iran camp - sacked their manager 3 months ago and the political situation has divided the players apparently. Definitely an unsettled camp and a 6-2 loss will not help morale. Personally, I think Iran will probably advance from out Group presuming their GD...

Arena dilapidation costs - £12.9m over next 3 years

Even if they did decide to stay, they wouldn’t be a threat anymore. Their days are numbered and the interest just isn’t there for them to justify staying at the CBS.

    Qatar World Cup 2022

For a 'football mad' country, the local support doesn't seem particularly interested. The stadium was half full by 60m when the hosts were playing... Has that ever happened before?!

    Qatar World Cup 2022

It’s embarrassing. We need to stop giving the World Cup to countries that aren’t really capable of qualifying or particularly interested in the game.

Arena dilapidation costs - £12.9m over next 3 years

From Mike Ashley’s POV, you’re not wrong. But from a Wasps POV, losing the CBS has killed any reason for them to remain in Coventry. There really isn’t the interest from the city. After you they went into admin, the Coventry project was dead. Avoiding admin was one of the stated aims of moving...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

It should be implemented how it is in rugby. The referee makes a call on field and refers it up to VAR to check his marking. If a VAR official is proactively recommending a referee looks at the monitor, there’s an ingrained bias in the decision making. Would that incident have been referred...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

Probably goes to show people shouldn’t wet the bed when we lose a few meaningless Nations League games. Iran are a good side and I think they’ll qualify 2nd in the Group if they don’t lose their heads after this loss. Iran drew to Portugal, pushed Spain in a narrow lose and beat Morocco...

Arena dilapidation costs - £12.9m over next 3 years

I can’t see Wasps returning. They have gates of sun £7k and the ground was the reason d’être for moving to Coventry. Day-to-day, the CBS is arguably too big for us, let alone a rugby club.

    Wasps downward spiral...

How many rugby clubs regularly get 10,000 fans every game? It highlights how dumb the Wasps purchase of the CBS was. Even at the time of the purchase, I always wondered what a rugby club would do with a 32k seater stadium.

    Wasps downward spiral...

At 6.5%, the interest is tracking below inflation which wasn’t the case until this year. It’s a tough spot for those investors.

    Kevin Maton

Yet the council ends up selling to another hedge fund and the taxpayer is losing out. So the narrative that the Wasps deal was a good deal is nonsense.
