Mowbray vs Pressley Last 15 Stat

Let's face it everyone, SP got sacked the minute we dropped into the relegation zone last season. If we are in the drop zone by mid-season next term, Mogga will be gone too. As it is, we're 10th and that's not a sackable offence, despite the recent poor run.

Mate that's the whole point - wrongly!!!! Managers should get a three year minimum. In reality, you can't expect progress straight away. Giving managers 18 months to succeed will get us nowhere (which is exactly where it has got us up until now).

    Play Offs: Yes or No

Exactly - I voted yes to the question as stated, but I'd have voted no to the one as you pose above FP.

Yes was thinking Oldham or Swindon, or Wimbledon.

    Now down to 10th

Nice to see you're not missing a chance to be upbeat :D You did mention tonight's game at the "dropping to 10th" possibility in another thread, did you particularly want to cheer us all up with another positive?

    Now down to 10th

Look at their team. Tyrone Barnett had a bloody good game against us. Moussa was quality for us. Myles Weston I know to be quality from his time at Brentford. There's a half dozen others....

    Our downfall

IMO our downfall has been not enough players coming to the party in the goalscoring stakes - after Arma and Murph, our next top scorer is jointly MAF and Tuddy with three each. Successful teams generally share the goals around so that when the main strikers inevitably have a dip in form, there...

So where do we now expect us to finish this season?

I was wondering that earlier - a bit like Coleman where we were threatening playoffs near the end of March, then went 10 in a row without a win, got thrashed 4-0 home by Watford and it was bye bye CC.

So where do we now expect us to finish this season?

I think the biggest factor is that, of the starting XI last night, only 2 know they are going to be playing here next season. As for the rest of the season, just because you and others on here are writing off our hopes, doesn't mean that the team have (although i di agree that they look a bit...

So this is more like the old days

Agreed mate. The core issue is that the same season keeps repeating itself, with different variants - financial losses and mid-table anonymity / relegation battle, regardless of what league we're in. Leads to best players being sold to plug the gaps in the budget, sack the manager - results...

So where do we now expect us to finish this season?

But on the positive side, football's all about surprises. Now our playoffs prospects are reduced to a long-shot, we'll probably pick up form and win the next two, just to tantalise before we get as far as Oldham, lose and it'll become mathematically impossible. No lower than 10th IMO.

    2 year plan

I agree - as long as we're in about the same ballpark as we are now this time next year, I'd give him a 2 year contract extension.

    Next Season

Stokes is already contracted I think. As for the rest, Martin is a yes, JOB, Cole and Fleck will find pastures new...nobody else has made a convincing case to stay, but a couple like Lorentzson might get the benefit of the doubt. He has his favourites like MAF and Ricketts who might make the cut.

    Mowbray needs to go

IMO sacking the manager because of a poor run of form is short-termism. TF once said to me that "SP is a long term solution but we need a short term solution too." I disagreed and still do. To build long term success over a decade or more, starts with a build-up period where one manager, and it...

Mowbray vs Pressley Last 15 Stat

I'm just saying that's why they won't sack him off the back of this run. Personally, promotion this season, even when we were top, was never a must. Let him re-build; the behind the scenes work is ongoing. Even with the bad run, we have made progress even if the trend is obviously uneven...
