I don’t find him a tactically brilliant manager and often I think he’s a little slow to react in games. I do think he’s a great man manager, knows how to build squad spirit and is excellent at improving raw players, which is one of the reasons I’m not worried about our new signings this year...

Passing game looks much sharper and crisper tonight. Only been 15 mins but looks as good as anything since the opening game. Binks breaking lines, midfield passing forward. Godden dropping into spaces, Simms holding the ball up well. Looks promising in attack. Defence still look nervy though.

I don’t think Simms is getting on the end of that 3rd goal at the start of the season or even yesterday if he hadn’t already scored. A little bit fitness, a little bit lacking confidence. Did great to be in the position he was and finish on his left foot. He should really kick on now.

Nothing beats a square peg in a round hole like Micky Adams playing James Scowcroft at right midfield and then aiming every goal kick at him.
